Advantages: No burning sensation, pleasant taste
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
After a recent trip to the dentist I found out I have quite severe gingivitis (gum disease). I had previously tried using the Original Corsodyl Mouthwash, but I had to stop after just one use as it is absolutely disgusting!
So I was really pleased when the new Corsodyl Daily Defence Mouthwash was introduced as I was hoping it would have the gum disease fighting properties of the original Corsodyl, without the horrible burning sensation!
There are so many brands of mouthwash on the market today, but Corsodyl is the only one that I feel confident will protect my mouth against gum disease and cavities. It's effective because it contains fluoride and chlorhexidine digluconate, which is the ingredient that reduces plaque. The original mouthwash contains 0.2% w/v chlorhexidine digluconate and the daily defence contains 0.06%, w/v so they have basically diluted the original solution to make it suitable for daily use.
On the bottle it says it does the following:
* Effective plaque reduction
* Up to 12 hour action
* Daily cavity protection
* Fights bad breath
* Clinically proven
The new mouthwash is absolutely amazing compared to the original. It's much milder and actually has a pleasant minty taste to it. I am more than happy to use this everyday, but I only use it once a day as it's quite expensive.
How to use it:
Pour 10 ml into the cap (there are measuring lines inside the cap) and rinse the mouth for 30 seconds once or twice daily after cleaning your teeth.
After you've spat it out you're not supposed to rinse with water, as I suppose this dilutes the remaining mouthwash in your mouth. With most other mouthwashes I've used, I've always felt the need to rinse my mouth with water after using, however with this one I am able to go without rinsing.
My mouth is left feeling minty fresh and I am confident that any pesky bacteria that causes plaque is being killed off. So along with good brushing and regular flossing, this mouthwash has definitely reduced my gingivitis so I highly recommend this new and improved Corsodyl mouthwash.
500ml bottle available from supermarkets for £4.33 and Boots £4.39
Summary: Excellent mouthwash

- 25/02/09 Im a fan of Corsodyl but prefer the original as it seems to do a lot of good work even though it has more alcohol. |
