I absolutely love body butters, they are very much my weapon of choice when it comes to moisturising my somewhat dry skin. I don't have very dry skin but I do find that a body butter is much better for it than a lotion or milk. I usually choose butters from The Body Shop because I like the range of strong scents but I dislike the high prices of them immensely. So, when I saw this one for a couple of pounds, I snapped it up.
I am really impressed with it actually. The first thing that I like about it is the smell. I am a big fan of raspeberry. I find it is a lot better than strawberry because it is not a sickly. This body butter has quite a strong scent, but it is absolutely lovely. It has balanced the sweet smell well with a bit of fruity goodness. It is very light and refreshing. I also like the fact that the smell lasts a really long time. I put it on in the morning and I can still smell it hours later, which is nice.
The other thing that I like about this body butter is the fact that it works really well as a moisturiser. It is quite thick, which I love (the thicker the better as far as I'm concerned), so you are better off getting a bit and massaging it between your fingers first to soften it a bit. This helps it to absorb a bit quicker. It lasts a long time too and I find that my skin still feels moisturised a good few hours after applying it. It is really good value for money too because a little goes a long way. I used it every day and I still found that a tub lasted me a couple of months.
It is gentle enough to use on your face too which is an added bonus.
I can't for the life of me remember where I bought it, but it is available on Amazon at the time of writing the review for a little over three pounds. I'd say this is great value for money as well as being cheap for what it is and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
I recently needed some new body butter when when I recieved my first Amazon gift voucher I decided to try a new product on there rather than the usual body shop products.
I usually favor towards strawberry scents but I haven't tried Raspberry butter before so when I came across this I thought I would give it a try - the price was low and delivery was free on supersaver so even if it wasn't effective I haven't spent a lot of money on it.
About the packaging
The body butter comes in a ciruclar twist top tub which is hot pink in colour. The twist top lid is very secure when tightened correctly and I have never had any spillages as a result.
The label is mainly hot pink and baby pink and gives you the brand name - Cotton Tree - and also advises you the product is body butter and the fragrance is raspberry. It also has an image showing delicious looking raspberries.
On the side of the tub it gives you the batch no. details and the expiry date on the product - I purchased this body butter in May 2012 and the expiry date is December 2012.
On the back label you are advised that this body butter moisturises and hydrates leaving skin feeling soft and smooth.
It then gives ingredients and the normal warning notices.
The total contents of the tub are 200g.
How to use
Apply liberally and gently massage into skin
About the body butter
When you twist the top off you can then see the butter through a protective plastic layer - this can then be pulled up using the tab. This then gives you access to the butter.
The butter is not of a runny consistance and is almost "mousse" like - not too thick not too thin.
After taking the twist top lid off you do get strong non overpowering smells of raspberry floating around. The butter is also baby pink in colour.
When you scoop this out with your fingers and start rubbing it into your skin where needed it turns lighter in colour and mixes in very well rather than leaving residue.
It dries almost straight away - definetly in less than five minutes - which is great compared to other body butters which take forever.
The smell is really nice and does linger on your skin for a few hours - it is a sweet raspberry smell but as previously stated its not overpowering or sickly - and other people do notice the scent on you.
You also don't need to use a lot of the product to get an effective result - and I have noticed my skin does feel a lot more healthy since using this.
When I have researched Cotton Tree I have found they do other products and also offer different scents in their body butter range - all can be easily found on Amazon.
I paid £3.35 for this body butter - and the delivery was free on the super saver option - which to me isn't a bad price when you compare to body shop products when its just as effective.
The only quarm I have when ordering is I was sent a body butter with only 7 months to go until the expiry date so I wouldnt recommend to buy if you are going to put away in a cupboard for a while and barely use. However this is an issue with the amazon seller not the product so it gets full marks from me.
