Last year there was an online offer where you could apply for a sample of Crabtree & Evelyn's Iris perfume, I applied and was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the smallish number to receive a selection of perfume vials rather than just the Iris one - the problem was the glass vials arrived smashed and as I opened the envelope I cut my finger pretty badly. In temper I fired off a snotty email to Crabtree & Evelyn who were extremely apologetic and offered to send me some extra goodies by way of an apology, I wasn't expecting freebies so was pleased to accept and a few days later a huge box of assorted bits and pieces arrived including a jar of their Iris body cream.
I've used it on and off ever since, it hasn't become a favourite for the simple reason that I'm not overly enamoured with the fragrance but as a moisturising product I have to say it's pretty good and is something I would have purchased again if it wasn't for the fact the Iris smell is so old fashioned (in the cream anyway, it's sparkling and lovely in the perfume).
This is a fairly thick cream, it absorbs nicely but takes a little work to get to that point - considering how thick it is I wouldn't say it gives me a feeling of intensive moisturisation but it's nice enough and the light nourishment given is plenty for me as my skin is pretty normal in that regard. The cream sinks into my skin (albeit slowly) and doesn't leave any hint of greasiness, due to the fact it's quite rich I find I can't comfortably get dressed for several minutes after applying the cream - this isn't an issue personally as I tend to apply this in the evening or after dropping the kids to school when I can get back into my PJs if I feel like it.
My skin feels good after application, not amazing but Iris is enough to fend off any dryness that starts to appear - a small patch of eczema on my leg doesn't like it particularly but I suspect that's the perfume in the cream (not to mention a huge long list of chemicals in the ingredients list), when I apply it now I leave that area and just use it on the rest of my body for lovely soft skin that feels moisturised but not bogged down as can happen sometimes when I use butters and the like for nourishment.
