Lovely product for a gift, but too pricey for everyday

I fancied a change from my usual thick body butters, so delved into my cupboard of goodies and found a cute little 50ml bottle of Jojoba Oil body lotion from Crabtree & Evelyn.

I am a bit of a closet Crabtree & Evelyn fan. Although they have a bit of a Grannyish image - not helped by the overpowering floral smell that hits you when you enter one of their shops, they actually have some lovely ranges that are very feminine and make fab gifts.

The jojoba oil range is one of my favourites. The jojoba oil from the name is used for its moisturising properties rather than the fragrance, but the fragrance is a mix of lavender, green herbs and citrus.

The moisturising lotion seems quite runny in consistency, but maybe this is because I am used to using a body butter. It feels quite creamy and cooling to apply, and is really easily absorbed into the skin, and leaves no greasy residue behind.

The scent of the lotion is really soft and delicate, and I must admit I can't detect the lavender at all - just a subtle floral smell that is quite fresh - must be the citrus coming through.

This lotion leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft, though possibly not as hydrated as a heavy duty body butter. The most positive point for me is definately the fragrance, which left a subtle fresh smell all morning on my body, which I was really impressed by - more long lasting than some perfumes!

At £14 for a 250ml bottle, I do think this is pricey and I wouldn't pay this myself, but would be more than happy to receive this as a gift!! I will keep an eye on their outlet stores though and if I see a good offer I will stock up.

Recommended for a lovely gift to you or someone else if you can find it on offer.

Treat yourself of someone you know

        Product Description:
        - pump-action bottle: so far hasn't stopped working (and not heard anything about it breaking from my mother, who adores all Crabtree & Evelyn products);
        - medium thickness white fragrant (mild) cream

I was given this for Christmas from my mother. I'm a twenty-something and must admit, I always thought Crabtree & Evelyn was perhaps for the older generation - just the branding lent it a certain "more mature person" feel. So I doubt I would ever have tried this otherwise.

Having it now, it is a really gorgeous cream. The fragrance is fresh and strikes the fine line between being mild enough so as to not follow you in a haze of overpowering fragrance, and yet strong enough to really linger on your skin. I've just used it a little while ago and feel the fragrance wafting up to me - really lovely. I would happily blend in a soft, slightly floral perfume over the top of this cream and expect a very workable fragrant layer.

The cream itself is of excellent quality - which I like; no point in being the right fragrance if this doesn't do what it's meant to do. I have fairly dry skin and yet can easily put this on after shaving my legs and my skin feels soft and smooth. It's also exceptionally well absorbing.

All in all it's a great buy. I wouldn't wear it every day - because of the price - and perhaps there are other creams that will give you that lovely - dare I say feminine? - feeling. But it makes a fabulous gift - I'm sure the fragrance would suit most women out there; it really is pretty inoffensive - and makes a welcome addition to my "special creams" list.

A good everyday post shower moisturiser

This is a lovely light moisturiser and is suitable for everyday use.

I was given this as a present so I don't know how much it cost but I will update the review when I find out as I will be buying another bottle when this one is finished.

The bottle is wonderfully designed with a pump action so you can dispense just the right amount and you dont end up pouring it all over the floor or have it dripping through your fingers because it is a really creamy consistency.

The fragrance is fresh but not too overpowering so you can put it on after a shower and not be too concerned that it will clash with the perfume in your shower gel or the perfume you may put on later.

The lotion soakes into the skin really easily and leaves you skin feeling really smooth, soft and silky. It is not at all greasy and the softness stays on your skin for a most of the day.

I would recommend this lotion to anyone who doesn't like heavy, greasy creams but does need a reasonble level of moisturiser.
