Advantages: Nice scent that lingers, moisturising

Disadvantages: Bit pricey, very girly

When I moved into my new flat one of the things that excited me the most was that there was a bath in my bathroom. This may stay strange but for two years I'd had to make do with a shower and forgo the pleasure of a long, relaxing soak in a mass of scented bubbles. As soon as I knew I was going to be able to indulge myself once more I paid a visit to my local Lush (not so local as it happens) and bought myself a few old favourites including this the Creamy Candy Bubble Bar.

Because it's not made of liquid, the bubble bar doesn't need to contain any nasty preservatives, and because it's from Lush, I know that no little bunnies have been hurt just so that I can enjoy mounds of bubbles (lush do not test on animals). Although I personally am not a vegetarian, these are also nice gifts to give to my friends that are. Unfortunately I had to wait a couple of days before I could use the bar, but in the meantime it made my bedroom smell divine. Creamy Candy has a sweet, heady aroma with vanilla being the strongest scent it's also a very pretty pink colour with a sugar flower on top.

Lush do state that one bar is perfect for one bath, but I'm a bit tight and there's no way I'm going to waste £2.30 on one half hour of indulgence. So I always cut the bar into three pieces and so get three baths for my money. As with all Lush Bubble Bars Creamy Candy needs to be crumbled into running water and this is one of the easier bars to crumble, but as it contains lumps of cocoa butter it does leave my hands a little greasy. But this is nothing a quick rinse under the tap won't sort out. Now the water where I live is very hard and this combined with how low the water pressure is means that I don't get masses of bubbles but there are enough. And the scent is divine, the sweet vanilla aroma drifts through the whole flat, the cocoa butter melts to leave an oily sheen across the bath, and the bath water takes on a very slight pink hue.

On entering the bath I can almost immediately feel the cocoa butter getting to work, and it's very relaxing. I'll often just relax in the bath for about half hour before getting to work shaving my bits, and the scent easily lasts this long. Getting out of the bath leaves another layer of the cocoa butter over my skin and then after I've dried off my skin is lovely, smooth and silky. If I've used other bath products I'll often find that the skin on my legs becomes very dry and tight after shaving and need to moisturise, but with this I don't. In fact I had a creamy candy bath at 7 this morning, it's now just gone 5, my legs still feel moisturised and there is a hint of scent on my skin. I also find I get a closer shave when I use this bubble bar, but they may just be because I'm so much more relaxed.

While I love using this bar it is a very girly experience, my partner does not intend to ever use this himself and he always knows when I've used one. He doesn't exactly hate the smell but it does linger and the whole flat smells a bit like a sweet shop for several hours after I've had a bath. Considering the cocoa butter in this I would maybe have expected the bath to become greasy after emptying, but this hasn't really been a problem and the usual spray and rinse clears any residue.

Although I like using most of the Lush Bubble Bars, the Creamy Candy is my favourite, I love the sweet scent, the moisturising effect and the way it leaves me feeling clean and pampered. At £2.30 it's one of the cheaper bars and while still a little pricey I do think it's worth spending a little pampering myself every now and again. Oh and it makes a good room fragrance too, simply dissolve a small chunk in a bowl of water and leave it in a room for a few hours.

Summary: Girly bath for the enviromentally conscious

I find that the smaller the pieces, the more bubbles, so I use an old butter knife to shave bits off. It uses way less and I've been able to make a bar stretch to as many as five baths this way!
