Advantages: A good classic soap.
Disadvantages: None
Cussons Imperial Leather, such a classic soap that has been on the shop and chemists shelves for as long as I can remember.
The Imperial Leather fragrance was the creation of PZ Cussons and its origins lay in the United Kingdom.
I was interested when I read how Cussons Imperial Leather soap gathered popularity, it was all due to the rationing that was implemented at the onset of World War Two in 1942. The soap bar was described as being hard and long lasting and therefore the soap was considered a safe bet to spend your coupons on.
I was just discussing with family how the Imperial Leather soap used to come in an elegant scarlet red cardboard box which was attractively curved at either end, but as time has gone by and the World has become more conscious of the way in which our goods are packaged the soap now comes in a clear, thin plastic cover. Usually four soaps are packed together inside yet another plastic wrapper.
The bar of Imperial Leather is easy to hold, the shape is well designed and in the centre of the soap bar there is a small black and red label with the manufacturers name printed on it. There is no doubt about it the bar of Imperial Leather looks regal and classic.
The distinctive fragrance has remained the same for many years and it is a suitable fragrance for men and women alike. When you remove the wrapper from the bar the ivory coloured soap feels soft to the touch.
When you use the bar in the sink or the bath water it provides you with a rich and creamy lather rather than a lot of bubbles.
Imperial leather is suitable for all of the family to use. I was surprised that I saw it in Tesco`s priced at £1.65 for four bars, when I can buy it in Wilkinson's or the Discount store at around £1 for four bars.
Whereas soaps like Camay and Pearl offer a strong perfume and a lot of lather Cussons Imperial Leather offers a rich mild lather with a gentle perfume.
Cussons have been manufacturing high quality bath and body products for over a hundred years now. They also market many baby products including wipes, shampoo, bath oil and baby powder.
The supermarket shelves are filled with new soaps in many different fragrances but the mild and gentle fragrance of Cussons Imperial Leather is timeless, and I am sure that it will be with us for many years to come.
Summary: A soap that all of the family can use.
