Advantages: convient to use, only a small amount needed

I actually first heard of Hand Hygiene Gel when watching an episode of the USA Wife Swap, where one of the women was a bit of a hygiene freak and wouldn't let her kids touch anything without having this on their hands!

When I spotted this in Boots, I decided to get myself a bottle to take to work. I work in an office where we 'hot desk' which basically means we don't have a set desk and just sit wherever we like. The main problem with this, is that some of the keyboards and phones can get absolutely disgusting. I have lost count of the times that I've had to go and wash my hands or go and get cleaning stuff and wipe the whole desk down as they're so manky, and thought this product might come in useful, as I swear you never know what you're touching in that place.

The product helps to stop the spread of bacteria on your hands. It works quickly and is proven to kill 99.9% of bacteria, and states that it is suitable for all the family.

The gel comes in a 100ml bottle which is pretty small, therefore handy to carry around in your bag. The bottle is clear, through which you can see the gel and has a blue flip top lid. One thing that concerns me slightly, is that the hinge on the lid seems quite flimsy, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it snapped off.

When you squeeze the gel into your hand it feels quite cool, and it is quite runny, so you need to rub your hands together quickly to stop it running off. It dries incredibly quickly once rubbed in, which makes it convenient to use when you're out and about. There's no need to rinse or anything like that, and it doesn't leave your hands greasy or sticky - you literally cant tell you've put anything on your hands.

There were two fragrances of the gel available in the shop when I went to purchase this - the original and citrus. I do like citrus scents, but on sniffing it in the shop I thought it was a little too strong, so bought original, which (I thought) was odourless. Now that I've used it, I realise it does have a smell to it - quite a fresh scent which reminds me of cucumber a bit.

There are several uses for this stuff and it can be used almost anywhere- some of the suggestions for use listed on the bottle, are - using in public toilets, when eating out, and when in the car.

Obviously I can't tell if this is killing 99.9% of bacteria on my hands - not without purchasing a microscope anyway - but I think just using it provides a bit of reassurance, and I've not been struck down by any terrible disease yet!
