Advantages: Cleans your hands without drying them out.

Disadvantages: This may lead to over worrying about hand hygiene.

I have always been a clean person especially where hygiene is concerned; having 2 children means that I always have wipes in the house and I take wipes out with me. I like to be able to clean my hands when I feel it is necessary.

With wet wipes the packs are large which meant I had to find a suitable container or bag to take only a few, as I don't like carry a lot around with me, and the travel size packs of wipes are in my opinion are over priced. On cold days they leave my hands feeling wet and cold and then I have to find a bin to dispose of the wipe. I am not to keen on using public facilities as they are usually not very nice, and there is not always soap available.

I first came across hand hygiene gel while I was out with a friend she took some from out of her bag and rubbed it into her hands and it smelt nice so I was intrigue by what she was using. I had to get some and since then I have always used a hand gel, no particular one as they are all pretty much the same and work in the same way and there isn't much difference in price between the hand gels that are available.

This 100ml bottle of gel from Cuticura is perfect to slip into my pocket or bag. It is excellent value for money and costs around £1. It is widely available and is stocked in most supermarkets and pharmacies. Only a small amount is needed so it lasts for a long time which means it is excellent value for money.

Having children makes you more aware of hygiene and it is important to wash your hands when you are caring for a newborn. Hand gels are used in hospitals and I noticed they were used a lot by all the medical staff and visitors that come into contact with my baby.

When I'm at home I am able to wash my hands at the appropriate times, but while I am out and about there is not always the option of being able to wash my hands and most public facilities leave a lot to be desired and in most cases I avoid using public toilets and changing rooms.

I don't have to worry anymore as I always have a little bottle of hand gel on me, which is easy to use. I find this great to use before eating and especially before my son eats I like to know my hands are clean. I also use this to change his nappy if I'm out and about which is not very often if I am just going into town or shopping as I am only a 30 min walk from home. I find this particularly useful for when I need to use public transport and for long journeys where there is nowhere to be able to wash my hands. I always provide my daughter with a bottle for her school bag so I know she can clean her hands throughout the day as children are often lazy when it comes to hygiene and this gel takes no effort to use. There are so many times during the day when this is ideal to use.

Hand gels are designed to kill germs on your hands where soap and water is not available. The clear gel is easily dispensed from the flip top bottle and a small amount is all that is needed, it should be rubbed into your hands using the same technique that you would use when applying soap to your hands massaging it into the front and backs of your hands and under the nails. The gel is thick and has a nice fresh scent to it. It is easy to rub into your hands; you need to wait 15 seconds for the gel to dry on your hand which isn't long. The gel leaves my hands feeling soft; it doesn't feel sticky or leave any residue behind so I don't feel like I need to wash it off. You do need to be careful not to squeeze too much out only a pea size amount is needed any more than that is a waste and you will be waiting a lot longer for the gel to dry, it is also a good idea to make sure you squeeze it on to the palm of your hand because if too much is used it will seep through your fingers and will end on your clothes or shoes, it hasn't marked or damaged anything from doing this though.

I also find the gel good to use at home, when I need to clean my hands as it doesn't dry the skin out like soap and water does. It has no damaging affect to my skin. It will sting if you have any cuts on your hands so it is wise not to use if you have broken skin although it won't do any harm other than sting.

Hand gels are ideal to clean your hands, but if you can see dirt on your hands then you need to wash them as this will not clean dirt off.

I actually prefer to use this hand gel as it leaves my hands soft and fresh feeling, unlike when I wash my hands they can be left feeling dry. I do get dry hands and take extra care over what I use on my skin and try to prevent them from becoming drier, I have not had any problem with using this on my hands.

Hand gels are good for use in the home, for out and about, in the car, for times when you use public transport, and are great to take on holiday. Also during flu season when there is a lot of illness flying around, after touching public door handles and shaking people's hands and even using pens this is where the germs are passed on to your hands. This can also be used in the work place, I have actually seen bottles of hand gels in some banks on each of the desks.

Since having my son 15 months ago I became more aware of hygiene as a new parent does, I also noticed the amount of people around me that do not wash their hands, even after using the bathroom, which makes me cringe. This also worried me as I knew these people would be holding my baby so after talking to a nurse in hospital who was helping me to bath my baby, I mentioned it to her and she recommended getting visitors to use my hand gel, so I always offer my hand sanitizer to family and friends when I am with them.

While I find these hand gels good, it is not good to be overly worried where germs are concerned as some germs are good for us.

I highly recommend this product to anyone and everyone.
