Advantages: Reasonably priced and easy to use, no water or towels required
Disadvantages: Smell of alcohol is quite strong
After watching a strange (albeit interseting) documentary on TV about germs it got me thinking. Whilst I was queueing at my local Boots I noticed this bad boy just begging me to buy it. I succumbed after the scary facts that were still lodged in my brain from the night before. Did you know that one single bacteria cell can grow to more than 8 MILLION in 24 hours. Now that is scary. My decision made I took this mini bottle of Hand Hygiene Gel to the till.
This miniature bottle is very small at only 50ml. However that appealed to me as I have little enough space on my desk at work as it is. The small bottle cost me 99 pence which I thought was a bargain!
The basis of this is that you can squeeze a small amount of this gel into your hands and you just rub the gel in and it drys with no need to use a towel or tissue. I would estimate it took around 30-40 seconds for this gel to completely rub in and dry. The bottle states that it kills 99.99% of bacteria. That is a high enough number to persuade me to use it. The gel was easy to apply and use although there is a slight smell of alcohol from it.
The ingredients as stated on the bottle are:-
Alcohol Denat
Aqua
Popylene Glycol
Triclosan
Carbomer
Triethanolamine
Parfum
This product is the same sort of thing that is used in hospitals (unfortunately still not used by enough people though, hence the increase in MRSA being contracted). With todays lives being busier and more hectic people (especially me) love nothing more than a quick fix or easy solution to problems. Bacteria being one of them.
This is an ideal buy and I actually think the smaller bottles are better because they are easier to store. I now have one at work, in my car and in my handbag. These are especially great to carry with you if you use bathrooms in public places where the hand washing facilities aren't always at their best. This also lasts quite a long time as a very small amount is required. I tend to use an amount in my hand around the size of a 5 pence piece.
Summary: Great product worth having around
