Decleor is a premium brand that I really like and I use quite a lot of their products. They are full of natural ingredients and generally I have found that they perform well and live up to their promises.
I have dry sensitive ageing mature skin and I have to be careful what I use as my skin can be very reactive, but have not experienced any issues with Decleor products.
The Excellence De L'age range is targeted at mature skin so unless you have burnt the candle at both ends and are ageing prematurely I would say this is aimed at 40+ age group. Decleor market this at 50+.
The full size product comes in 30ml jar, but I received a couple of 2.5ml tubes that came in a set or as samples.
This balm contains 100% natural ingredients.
The consistency is similar to an ointment which so this feels waxy and oily to the touch. It is super concentrated so is quite thick and is a natural colour.
Decleor produce several different balms, each designed to target specific skin problems or types.
The Excellence version is one of their anti-ageing range and is the most expensive one.
It claims to regenerate the skin deep-down, restoring facial firmness and volume. Also even out the complexion ,plus nourish and moisturise skin.
It contains a wide range of natural plant and flower extracts and 4 essential oils all of which are chosen to fill, firm plump, moisturise and protect skin from the environment.
Decleor do not test on animals.
Apply at night after cleansing skin.
Take a pea size amount.Place in the palms of your hand and put your hands together to warm before applying in light sweeping upward strokes over your face and neck and take down to the décolletage.
It smells natural and herby almost a medicinal smell , which I like as it feels like you are putting something quite healing and very natural on your skin.
It does melt easily by warming in your palms and a little goes a long way so don't be tempted to use more.
I find it absorbs easily into my skin and leaves my skin feeling soft and looking really hydrated . It leaves skin feeling slightly greasy but not uncomfortably so.
If there is any left in your palms , I don't keep applying I use any excess on cuticles, nails, elbows and lips as less is more.
As this is super concentrated you use very little.
Used daily a 30ml pot should last at least 6 months.
That will of course depend on your skin type.
I can really tell if I don't apply a night balm or night cream as the difference shows on my face in the morning. This particular balm does feel like it is working overnight to hydrate my skin and soften or blur the signs of ageing. So when I go through my morning routine , I find my skin looks better and makeup is easier to apply as the lines I have are less obvious and my skin feels much better to the touch.
I like the scent which I find relaxing, a plus point especially as this is a product I apply before I go to bed.
This is also quick and easy to apply, it liquefies in my palms and absorbs into my skin very quickly, so when I am really tired I have my skin sorted in a couple of minutes.
I would not recommend using this during the day as it is intended to be used at night, but I apply this before I have a bath as it protects my skin in the steamy atmosphere.
I also sometimes use this during the day particularly if I have exfoliated my face if I don't have a mask or instead of a mask and put a thicker layer on - obviously only if I am not planning on going out. I find my skin feels and looks wonderful after doing this.
Would I recommend?
I like using a night balm as quite often some brands recommend using a serum and a night cream , so only having to apply and pay for one product is a bonus.
It last for ages so although it is pricy I find I use very little each night and one small tube has lasted over a month.
I do like the results I get with the Excellence night balm as I do think they are better than the other Decleor balms I have - Iris night balm which targets ageing ski and Neroli night balm which is lovely but is not specifically targeted at ageing skin. This works on the lined areas more and they look less obvious, although there is not a dramatic difference.
The big downside to this particular balm is that it is very expensive at £81 for 30ml and costs £20+ more than the other Decleor balms. I am not sure the results are worth the extra cost as I do get similar results particularly the Iris night balm.
If money was no object I would buy this and use it in combination with the neroli night balm. I do this with my Excellence moisturiser and use anti ageing for a month or so and then Hydra floral which targets dryness. That way I ensure my skin is really hydrated and also target anti ageing , as I find creams that lift and firm can cause me dryness.
