Advantages: Very good

Disadvantages: Just be careful not too floss too strongly

Dental flossing is still relatively uncommon in UK.

I floss after each meal, and some time even in between meals, if I have snacks. I was brought up in a family where everybody flossed after eating, but when I started working in UK I realized that the practise of flossing is considered a bit odd by many people. When I am in the office I go to the toilet and floss there and some of my colleagues ask me why I do it.

Well, the reason is simple. Flossing is a good way to keep the hygiene of your mouth, I normally floss, then brush my teeth and then use oral mouthwash.

I normally use floss from Oral B. I also tried flosses from Tesco and Boots and found both of very poor quality. I will review each of these separately in the future.

In order to floss, I normally take a thread long around 25 centimetres, I then hold it between my fingers and start flossing gently in between my gums. It is important to floss gently, because flossing can damage your gums if done too strongly. The movement need to be gentle and I also use my tootbrush to help some fragments of food come out in between flossing.

Once I feel that all the bit and pieces of food have come out, I then bush my teeth.

Flossing does not take me more than 3-4 minutes at the most.

The food which remains in between your teeth or gums would normally turn into bacteria. This would cause bad breath and help the decay of your teeth.

A dental floss normally has got 25 metres. It normally cost me less than 2 pounds and it lasts me 3-4 weeks. This is less than 10 p per day and the cost and pain of having to go to a dentist are much higher.

I recommend flossing to everyone.

Summary: Highly recommended
