~ D&G Light Blue~
D&G 'Light Blue' fragranced body cream has a fresh, zingy, citrus, floral fragrance which works so well on my skin that I find I can wear it on its own without having to use the fragrance from the same range. In my opinion the cream works really well as a fragranced day wear/ body care type product. I find that the lovely fresh feeling and uplifting fragrance that the body cream has is perfect for wearing on a warm summer day. There are a small number of fragranced body creams that I have tried that are truly long lasting enough to wear without a matching EDT and this is one of them.
I like the fact that I can wear this body cream on its own as a stand alone product and still enjoy its fragrance, yet I can also use it with the matching EDT to layer the effect to make it last even longer if wanted. In my opinion this body cream is both citrusy and lightly floral at the same time. (think spring time and flower filled bluebell woods with an added zingy citrus burst and a musky base). Once the cream is applied to the skin the citrus feel is at the fore front, although a much softer more exotic layer soon appears and lasts for a good number of hours.
The product comes in an easy to use plastic tube which has a minimal look to it, that reflects the design of the EDT fragrance bottle. I feel that the over all presentation is a little plain, with a simple frosted finish to the main part of the tube. In my opinion the product tube is just a little too under stated and may benefit from a design upgrade to give it a more stylish look. The silver toned plastic lid is functional, though equally plain. In other words the lid is nothing special but functions well enough. I find that the lid can be twisted on and off with very little pressure and provides a good seal which keeps the body cream fresh and ready for use at all times.
In my opinion the product is easy to smooth on to the skin, being quickly and easily absorbed. I find that the product leaves skin lightly hydrated and pleasantly fragranced at the same time. There is a slightly sharp yet bluebell sweet feel to the fragrance of the body cream which adds a tangy floral freshness perfect for summer days. The body cream mellows over time as the fragrance slowly becomes less tangy and slightly more woody leaving behind a softer lighter form that lasts for a number of hours on the skin.
I have not had any problems or reactions to the skin when using the body cream and have found that it helps to soften and smooth the skin a little. I would say that the texture of the product is light, airy and not all that creamy making it quick and easy to work onto the skin. The feel of the body cream is not at all greasy or oily and in my opinion the texture of the product is more like a body lotion as it feels far more fluid that most body creams do. The effect once on the skin is silky and smooth with plenty of lovely fresh feeling fragrance.
I really like this body cream and find it very easy to wear even on its own. The lovely citrusy floral feel that the product has comes from white roses, jasmine, bluebells and an apple toned citrusy kick, that I enjoy wearing. Cedar wood, amber and musk are used to increase wear time on the skin and make the fragrance last for a good number of hours. I wear this on its own or layered with the fragranced EDT which makes the fragrance last even longer.
~Product rating/ price~
The cost of the product varies. If bought as part of a fragrance gift set the total cost including the cream can be anything from £20 in the sales to £35 or so at full price. The cream on its own can be as much as £27 for a 200ml tube from major high street stores, although it can be found for a little less at around £14/ £16 online. I feel the gift sets offer best value as you generally get the EDT, a smaller sized body cream and a smaller sized shower gel in these sets. My rating for this fragranced body care product is 5 stars, as I find it softens hydrates and fragrances the skin for a good number of hours all at the same time.
