Advantages: Mid-range price, Moisturising
Disadvantages: Leaves white residue
I am not particularly loyal to deodorants. Whatever is on special offer at the supermarket is what goes into my trolley. Last month, it was the turn of Dove Deodorant Anti-Perspirant Spray. Never again! I?ll tell you why at the end of the op, but first the good news. As with other Dove products, the unique selling point is that it is incredibly moisturising. It uses ¼ moisturising cream to take care of your skin all day long. I will have to take their word for it, because I did not notice my underarms feeling particularly soft or moisturised afterwards. However, I was aware that the product did not sting on application (even after shaving). The smell is very fresh and neutral. It could be used by either men or women and doesn't overpower your perfume or aftershave. Pure and simple it might be, but the ingredients sound like the contents of a chemistry laboratory: butane; isobutene; propane; cyclomethicone; aluminium chlorohydrate; disteardimonium hectorite; parfum; ppg - 14 butyl ether; octyldodecanol; silica. I notice that it says dermatologically tested and I wonder if it is code for tested on animals. Nowhere on the packaging does it say that it is not tested on animals. The other good news is the price: For a 150 ml can, you will have to pay £2.09. For comparison purposes, other anti-perspirant sprays are: - £1.99 for 150ml: Natrel - £1.99 for 150ml: Soft and Gentle - £2.50 for 200ml: Adidas Classic You can buy this product at most supermarkets and chemists (Boots, Superdrug etc). For those beauty junkies who like their bathrooms to look like a temple, you will be happy to know the deodorant comes in a simple white container with clear blue lid, in keeping with the message this is a pure clean product. The big problem is that it leaves a white powdery residue under your arms. At first I thought I had sprayed too close to my underarms. I cleaned it all ove
r and tried again. Same problem. I persisted for a week, but the problem continued every time. Especially when you have a wardrobe that contains as many black or dark coloured tops as mine, powdery underarms is not a pretty sight. And as I moved around, the snow rained down onto my black trousers. Yikes! The incredible snowing woman.
