Advantages: Leaves skin feeling soft and moisturised
Disadvantages: None
I am always on the look out for a bargain, but I have to admit that when it comes to soap, I have become a creature of habit. I have been buying Dove soap for a number of years and I have never been tempted to try a different brand.
Dove Beauty Cream Bar as it is now known is manufactured by Unilever who own the Dove trademark and brand name.
Dove soap has been around in the USA since 1955. It was not until 1979, when a senior dermatologist in Pennsylvania proved that dove soap caused a lot less dry and irritated skin than any other soap on the market, that Dove soap really captured the market.
By 2003 dove had won 24% of the world market for soap bars. Now Dove is a world leader in the sales of soap. They manufacture in the USA, Germany, Ireland, Brazil and the Netherlands. This soap bar is manufactured in Germany.
Dove beauty cream bar comes in a blue and white cardboard box which is just large enough to hold one bar. On the front of the box the Dove logo (which is a picture of a dove in flight) is in a gold colour. Each bar contains 100g of soap. Once opened the bar must be used within twelve months.
When you open the box, which has a flip top lid, the dove logo is also printed inside the box. There is a message which is written in several different languages including English, it says - 'Dove wishes you beautiful skin, everyday'.
The bar itself is oval in shape and has the Dove logo etched out on both sides of the bar. It is completely white in colour.
The bar feels soft and creamy when you touch it. It is not perfumed but there is a slight hint of a fragrance to the bar. I think the best way to describe this is to say it has a slight soapy fragrance.
When the bar is mixed with water it lathers up really quickly into a smooth creamy texture. As each bar is said to contain one quarter moisturiser, I think it is fair to say that this is immediately obvious as soon as you start to use it. It feels very luxurious on the skin and does leave the skin feeling very clean and moisturised at the same time.
As I said I have been using this creme bar for a number of years and I have no intention of buying any other brand. Prior to using Dove I had tried numerous soap bars and always found that my skin felt a bit dry and tight after each use.
If possible try not to leave this soap bar in contact with water when not in use. Due to the moisturisers in the bar, it can go very soft and quite runny.
Dove claim to make 'real beauty products for real women'. This is obvious in their advertising campaign where there is not a 'stick insect' in sight.
A single bar costs around 59p
A twin pack costs around £1.09
A pack containing four costs around £1.89
I have reviewed the beauty cream bar. There are other bars available which are-:
Pro-age cream bar
Fresh touch cream bar
Exfoliating cream bar
Extra sensitive cream bar
Cream Oil bar
Dove also do an excellent range of other beauty products-:
Bodywashes
Hair care
Face care
Handwashes
Body lotions
Moisturisers
Anti perspirants/Deodorants
There is just one down side to this product and that is Dove have been known to test some of their products on animals. I have tried to find out if animal testing is used on the cream bars but I have found nothing to say that it either has or has not.
I would have given this product five stars but I have given it four stars on account of the above.
Summary: If you have never tried this give it a go!!
