I use loads of different types of moisturisers for my body and as I love the Dove range I obviously had to try their Silk Beauty Body Cream when I found a 300ml tub of this for sale in Home Bargains at the great price of only £1.89. I remember clearly when this stuff was for sale in Tesco’s for a whopping £4.99. As I have used it before, and I knew how good it was, I had no hesitation in buying another couple of pots again.
The thing I love about this body cream is that it is so versatile and though it is described as a body cream I actually also use it on my face too and I have never had any adverse effects. It is a very thick cream and it is white in colour and feels rich and creamy and very luxurious as soon as you dip your fingers into the pot.
The smell is also to de for and it lingers on the skin for ages after you have applied it. It is great for dry shins, arms and elbows and I also use it underneath a fake tan as it prevents the tan from going blotchy on my skin.
It is really absorbent, despite its being so thick and it is really surprising how quickly it is absorbed into the skin. I really do recommend this wonderful body moisturiser to anyone and I have even caught my hubby having a sly old dip in the pot when his hands were feeling rough the other week!
I first started using Dove Body Silk about 5 years ago because I had really dry skin and my mum recommended trying this Dove moisturiser. The Moisturiser comes in a 300ml tub with a plain but elegant outside design. I like the fact that it comes in a tub rather than a squirty tube as it means you can get all the product out of the tub when you get down to the last few dollops. I paid £4.99 for this product in Tesco but have seen it on offer regularly in several supermarkets. Although £4.99 seems a bit pricey for a moisturiser, Dove Body Silk lasts me for a few months, and I use it on my face, legs and rest of my body almost every day so you get good value for money. The product is thick and creamy as well which means a little goes a long way.
The moisturiser itself has a divine smell that is not too over the top. It leaves dry skin feeling soft after the first use and silky. It doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy either which is another bonus. It is particularly good for using on your legs after shaving as it doesn't cause any irritation or stinging when applied. I have also found that it works well on my feet as I get dry skin on my feet due to being on my feet all day every day at work. I cover my feet in cream before i go to bed, put some socks on and wake up with soft, rejuvenated feet.
Although my skin is normally quite dry, i have friends who also use this moisturiser and have greasy/oily skin. They also love it and find that it doesn't make their skin greasy or oily after using it.
Overall, i love this moisturiser and in my opinion there are no downsides to it. I will continue to use it as long as they are selling it. It smells gorgeous, feels gorgeous and is good value for money.
This buy was a bit of an extravagance for me - I can't remember exactly how much I paid for it, but I remember thinking it was a bit much at the time. However, I'd been looking for a really good body moisuriser for a long time, and I decided to push the boat out and give it a go. I'm totally glad I did, because this is such a wonderfully luxurious body moisturiser!
I don't normally really care about packaging - as long as the product inside works well, I couldn't care less what the bottle looks like. But I really love this kind of tub packaging. Yes, it might take up a bit more space on my bathroom shelf that a small, squeezy bottle, but I really hate having to turn bottles upside down and bang on the end for ages just to get the last dregs of lotion out of it. With the tub, I can really scrape the last little bits out of it - it feels like I'm getting a little bit more for my money.
Talking about getting more for your money, it lasts absolutely ages, and I do not use it sparingly at all. I really slather it on, because it smells so great. Not an overly strong, floral scent or anything, just really light and feminine. But the absolutely best thing about it - it just feels so damn luxurious! Dove really aren't kidding when they call it 'body silk,' it literally feels like you're rubbing silk into your skin. The cream is really thick, but doesn't feel to heavy at all. It sinks into my skin straightaway, and doesn't leave the dreaded 'greasy skin' that so many other moisturisers leave me with.
All in all, it leaves my skin feeling much softer and fully moisturised. I don't have extremely dry skin, so I'm not looking for something to moisturise over a 48 hr period or anything (if you do have VERY dry skin, I would recommend trying something else) but for everyday moisture that feels like silk and smells great, THIS is the cream you want to buy.
When it comes to buying a mosturiser its hard to find the right one that you like, Esspecially when there is tones and tones of brands out there that do different things that keep your skin looking healthy. But not all brands work for your type of skin. I have tried so many that I haven't got on with. I have found that some have made my skin itchy or Leave my skin dry and flaky.
The Dove Silky Nourishment body cream comes in a white circle pot with a screw cap on it, Also it has a foil film over the moisturiser to keep it nice and fresh and to make sure no nasty bits get it to it as your using it. I brought this from wilkos and it cost me £4.55 which I thought it was a good price for a big pot. You can also buy this same mosturiser in a tall bottle which cost the same price.
When i unscrewed the cap off the pot and pulled back the foil film there was a lovely smell. It was a really sweet rosey smell that made me just want to eat it. The feel of the body cream was so creamy and silky and light as a feather.
when i started using this body cream it just glidded and melted into my skin and left my skin feeling amazingly silky and smooth and made my skin smell great. it dryed really quickley and didnt leave my skin dry or flakey. my skin was smooth and silky all day.
if i had to buy any moisturiser it would have to be the Dove silky nourishment body cream.
Hmm is best how I describe this moisturiser. I bought it because it was on offer in Boots and I'd been thinking about a moisturiser for a while. Also my Mum uses Dove and has always 'spoken well' of them, as it were! This comes in a round plastic tub, that feels reassuringly heavy and well made. Opening it, the cream is very thick, almost like a body butter as someone else has said, and I did wonder if it would ever sink in properly, as there is nothing worse than feeling your clothes cling to skin that is a bit sticky...ugh. As it turned out however I had quite the opposite problem! So I applied this stuff on my legs (always the driest skin on my body) and realised that a little wasn't going very far. Now, my skin is dry, but not that dry. I hooked some more out of the jar and spread it again over my skin. Hmm.
To cut a long story short, this stuff just vanishes into me. I am all for quick-absorbing moisturisers, but this doesn't really absorb as such. It makes my skin a little more moisturised, but doesn't make any difference to my elbows/knees where the rough skin is.
And by the end of the day, it feels as if it's never been applied. I am really quite disappointed and shan't buy it again!
I have always been on the lookout for a good moisturiser. Every moisturiser moisturises your skin I guess, but some are just too thick, or too thin, too expensive or smell absolutely awful. But now I think I've found my perfect one- Dove Body Silk!
I really like the packaging of this product. It comes in a 300ml pot. I like the size because I use 200ml up too quickly, and I use 400ml too slowly and then the scent goes off and funny, so 300ml is a perfect size for me. The pot is a matte creamy white colour with the dove logo all the way around it. The lid is a pearly goldish colour. On the lid we are told the name of the product and what the product is. Ingredients are listen on the sticker on the very bottom of the pot. The lid is very easy to twist off, which I like because then I don't have to faff around with a flip-top lid which can be sometimes too stiff for a weak girl like me. I like the fact that the tub is matte because if you hold it when some cream residue is left on your hands, you won't drop it. The only problem with this packaging is that it can be quite unhygienic. Bacteria and dirt can easily fall into the pot if you leave it open, so make sure you wash your hands before use and close the lid after use.
*Using The Product*
I really like using this because the pot doesn't get all greasy because I leave it on my dressing table and just scoop little amounts of the lotion into my hands- I'm not having to squeeze amounts out of a bottle. The moisturiser goes on well. It's great because it spreads over skin well without being runny. It's thick enough to give your skin a good moisture boost though. You don't have to use much with this product- little goes a long way. The smell is pleasant too. I can't really describe what the scent is. It just smells fresh and very clean, a bit like washing powder, but not over-powering at all.
After using the moisturiser, my skin is left very soft and smooth. It doesn't look too oily, but doesn't too dry either. If I use this in the morning, I don't have to worry about dry skin throughout the day. Using this once a day is enough. I find it very nice to use after shaving my legs because it doesn't sting and is very cool and soothing. I think it would also be suitable to use as an after-sun lotion too because it gives so much moisture.
This is the best body moisturiser I have used. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I bought it for around £4 in BodyCare, but it's probably a bit more expensive in Boots or Superdrug (maybe around £5 or £6?). I like it because it's affordable and I'm sure it's as good as any more expensive premium brand body lotion.
DOVE is one of the leading brands and there soap is one of the best I have ever used, but today I am writing a review on DOVE Body Silk Beauty Body Cream, since it says body stick to body don't apply it on your face because it will not give enough moisturization for your face during winters. The cream is really very creamy and easily melts on your skin and the jar has a very attractive design. It is not greasy and may provide enough moisturization for the body,if you have normal skin, the reason why I say may is because I have dry skin and it didn't provide enough moisture. It is not expensive as other products on the market, but it did not deliver for me,if you have normal skin then probably you can go for it but if you have dry skin like me don't go for it,I am almost certain it won't work for you as well.
I really like the smell of Dove products and I find that you can trust them to moisturise your skin really well. Dove Body Silk Beauty Cream is no exception. It can be trusted to really add moisture to your skin and quickly too, just like all Dove products.
This is a really thick and rich moisturiser. It is very luxurious and although it is thick, it spreads well on your skin. It soaks in easily and does not leave you feeling greasy or that you have a layer or something on your skin.
The scent is delicate and light. It is the typical dove smell that you get with all their products. I love it, as it is so fresh and clean smelling and also pretty unique. It is hard to describe. It is quite a natural smell, a little like soap.
The downside for me was the container. I prefer to squeeze my lotions and potions out of a tube rather than go to the inconvenience of unscrewing a large lid and then rescrewing it... does that sound VERY lazy?!
A 300ml tub of Dove Body Silk costs about £5. This will last a long time and so it is quite a bargain in my opinion.
A great product that I would highly recommend. It adds a little bit of luxury to your day!
I bought my tub of Dove Body Silk a couple of months ago. I was looking for something that would last for quite a long time but not be too expensive, and this product fits the bill well. I paid £4.99 for a big 300ml tub and, although I use it daily, there is still a lot left so it has proved very good value for money.
One of the things I like about this particular moisturiser is that it is easy to get out of the tub and you can use every bit of it. I get fed up with products that have to be squeezed out of bottles and tubes, where you end up either throwing some away because you can't get the last drops out, or cutting the container up to use every last bit. With Dove Body Silk, the tub is deep and wide so you don't end up wasting any of it and, for this reason, I have been able to decant some into a smaller container to take away with me when I go on holiday - handier than taking the big tub, which would take up more room in my luggage.
The product itself is fairly thick, easy to apply and doesn't leave the greasy feel that many others do. It goes on easily and sinks in quickly, especially if applied after a hot bath or shower when the skin is still damp. It is delicately perfumed so won't overpower your perfume, either.
You can find Dove Beauty Silk in Superdrug, Boots and other pharmacies as well as places like Wilkinsons - where it is usually a bit cheaper.
The ingredients read like a laboratory experiment with the most natural-sounding one being aqua so I try not to wonder what I am putting on to my skin and don't put too much on in one go.
Dove is a tried and trusted name, having been introduced to us in a friendly, realistic way by showing it being used by 'normal' women of all ages and not the impossibly air-brushed specimens of perfection that other manufacturers think they can fool is with. It is for this reason, above all, that I think Dove has proved such a successful brand. That, and the fact that all their products are reasonably priced and more or less do what they promise. I have been so impressed by their Body Silk that I have been encouraged to try more products from their range and, so far, I have not been disappointed.
I think over the years Dove has become more and more of a household name.It can be trusted and used by all members of the family. I have tried a few Dove products over the years and I wasn't disappointed when I tried the Dove body silk.
Dove body silk comes in a 150ml white tub with a clear lid that displays a picture of the Dove. The packaging is fairly simple.
The cream itself is actually quite thick and feels almost like a body butter I was a little bit concerned at this point as I thought I might be left with that horrible greasy after feel like most of the thicker creams I have tried but I wasn't left disappointed with this one. The cream was absorbed almost instantly and I noticed my skin felt Extremely smoothed right away. I was also impressed with the beautiful feminine scent that was left on my skin.
To prolong the scent of the body silk I would definitely recommend using the dove body wash too as by layering the scents they do last that little bit longer.
I tend to buy all of my beauty items from Wilkinson's stores basically because it is a lot cheaper than the likes of Boots and Superdrug. I purchased the body silk for around £4.00 which in my opinion is a bargain considering the tub lasts a good while as a little goes a long way.
Dove has always been a brand that i have trusted and never had any problems with so when i spotted this moisturiser in superdrugs for £4.99 i thought i would give it a try, it comes in a 300ml round pot which is great as i dont get any waste left at the end as you can scrape the tub dry and no more squeezing bottles to death with slippery hands.
The cream is a good thick consistency so is a good job it is in a tub, it is great to apply as it doesnt run through your fingers and it spreads onto your skin very easily, soaks in nicely and doesnt leave any greasy residues behind like other creams i have tryed but leaves my skin feeling very soft all day.
The added bonus of this cream as with all dove products is that it doesnt have a strong over powering smell to it so wont effect any fragrances you wear with it.
This cream is fantastic for anyone with dry skin as it sooths and heals the dry patches fantastically without over greasing your skin, i would recomend it for all ages and think it is great value for money as one tub lasts me about 6 weeks of daily use.
Dove is such a popular and prestigious brand that you can't really seem to go wrong with them, and Body Silk is no exception.

Having quite sensitive skin, I wanted a cream that would be kind on my face and body and would leave my skin feeling smooth and soft. I came across Dove Body Silk when it was on offer in Savers (£1.99) which was a bargain. It can be bought at the moment in superdrug for under £5 and you get 300ml for your money. It's easy to apply as it's in a tub so there's no squeezing out of bottles getting messy, and it glides on your skin effortlessly. There's no greasy feel after it's on your skin, it just sinks in nicely. It also has a pleasant smell, nothing too strong but just slightly fragranced. I've been using this tub of silky soft goodness for a few months now and still have plenty left. You'll find you wont need much for it to leave your skin moisturised.

I can't find any downsides to this except perhaps the price if you're a little strapped for cash. I do think you get a good amount for your money though so in the long run I think you'd be better off investing a little in this product as it delivers what it says to - it gives you silky soft skin :)
A rich cream for complete body softness and care /
