Advantages: Moisturises really well
Disadvantages: The packaging isnt all that
I dont like soap! This is not because I'm dirty but because it dries out my skin. I'm constantly washing my hands and my kids hands so they dry out really quickly. I changed to pump action soaps quite a long time ago and only ever buy ones with loads of moisturisers in them. I'm also the type of person who will only really buy household products like this one if they are in some kind of offer as I think that generally things are really overpriced.
The Dove Fresh Touch Cream Wash is currently on offer at Sainsburies for £1.11 a reduction from £1.66 for 250ml. The packaging is a pastel mint green with the usual navy blue Dove logo with the silver dove symbol underneath. Below this is the name of the product and a picture of a cucumber slice, hinting at the fragrance and in small writing a silver teardrop with 1/4 Active moisturising Cream written below it. At the bottom of the bottle is a navy "refreshed hands" enclosed in a silver box.
The packaging is not what I would call eye catching and not one of the new breed of trendy bottles aimed at a younger market. The promise of moisturising with a cucumber scent is what sells it to me and it happens to be the only moisturising hand wash on offer I can see.
The back of the bottle tells us that it will delicately cleanse hands with a special formulation which help protect the skins natural moisture level. Sales speak if you ask me, but then cosmetics seem to rely heavily on baffling customers with scientific non-meaningful terms like poly peptide charcoal ada thingamy wottsits. This does however contain extracts of cucumber and green tea and will leave hands clean and fresh. I would hope so!
The nozzle at the top of the bottle is nice and wide if not a little stiffer than your average pump action nozzle. My two year old finds it a little too stiff for her but my seven year old has no problems at all.
The cream wash is a similar colour to the bottle and has a pearlescent look to it. There is quite a nice cucumber fragrance to it which is not overpowering but does linger for quite a while, good if you like the smell. One squirt is sufficent for your average handwashing session but more is needed for really mucky hands.
It lathers up nicely and you can immediately feel the moisturising properties of the product. My hands feel softer and almost silky immediately after use and continue to do so for some time after. This product will not help hands that are really badly damaged by gardening or outdoor work or weather, but it will not make them worse either.
I would imagine that this isnt the best product for sensitive hands as the ingredients are the usual cocktail of chemicals and perfumes but as handwashes go this one isnt too bad. If it's on offer again I would definately buy it but wouldnt pay full price for it.
Summary: A great handwash for really dry frequently washed hands.
