Advantages: Leaves you with soft skin
Disadvantages: I haven't found any
After falling in love with my new Dove pro-age hand cream I browsed Boots for other similar products to try. This is when I came across the new Dove pro-age body lotion. The only reason I wanted to try this product was because I’d found the hand cream so good. If this lotion was anywhere near as good then I’d certainly not have to worry about any dry patches again.
I paid £3.32 for 250 ml as it was on a special offer, I would have been prepared to pay twice that to try it so I found this a very reasonable price.
The bottle itself is very attractive. It’s a dark red colour with white and silver writing. The lid is a flip-open lid so that you can open it very easily even if your hands are wet after a shower. Strangely the blurb does not mention that it’s supposed to be for mature skin, something I assumed it would be due to the name and what I knew about the hand cream of the same brand. Instead it proclaims it’s for dull, tired skin. It will make a difference by combining active ingredients at the levels that will make skin look and feel better. Exactly what that’s supposed to mean I have no idea, it just sounds like marketing speak to me.
However, a quick glance at the ingredients list reveals that this product contains 5% AHA something which is supposed to help get rid of dead skin and to activate new ones, it also contains glycerin and olive oil to help improve skin turnover and to give nutrients. This all sounds very well but the clincher for me is that it also contains SPF 5, great now that the sun’s coming out again.
The cream should be applied evenly all over the body once a day or so for the best effect. Personally I prefer to put it on after I’ve been in the shower, but many friends like to put it on just before bed or when they wake up so I guess it’s all down to personal preference and I don’t think timing will make any difference to how it works at all.
The cream itself is quite thick and white. A little bit goes quite a long way and although the cream is thick you only need to massage it in for a short while before it’s absorbed. It doesn’t leave that greasy feeling that you sometimes get from rich body lotions but instead leaves a delicious, flowery scent that will stay for a good hour after application.
The lotion helps keep my skin soft and supple and it is probably the best body lotion I have tried so far. I think it’s suitable for any skin type, but especially dry skin will benefit from it. At that price it’s certainly worth a try!
Summary: The best body lotion you could ever hope for!
