Advantages: A rich moisturiser.
Disadvantages: Nothing major.
The Dove Pro-Age range is one range that suits me very well but I am beginning to wonder if the range has not taken off as well as Dove initially thought that it would do.
No matter which chemist or supermarket that you step into has the Dove Pro-Age range on offer and I bought a 250ml bottle of the Dove beauty body lotion for £2.40 in Sainsbury's, which is considered to be a half of the RRP.
Now I am well and truly into my fifties my skin just seems to drink any moisturiser that I apply and once it has had time to sink in the effects soon start to wear off and my skin looks like `crepe` again.
I do use Nivea and Astral ( I love the smell of Astral ) after I have had a bath because both of those are quite economical to use on a very regular basis.
But since Dove introduced their Pro-Age range I have introduced that into my skin routine too.
Unilever have given the Dove pro-Age range the mature appearance, the range is packaged in a deep cranberry colour which I think is elegant but some may think it has rather a funereal appearance !
The familiar Dove symbol is on the front of the bottle and the bottle has been designed so that it is easy to grasp. It opens with a simple flip top and the small hole only allows you to squeeze a minimal amount out at any one time.
If you take a look at what is in the Dove beauty body lotion it is all good stuff, glycerine, olive oil, sunscreen and AHA's. ( AHA,s help to remove the skin cells that have lost their lustre and let the new skin cells that lay underneath shine through )
Dove have dermatologically tested the cream.
Dove recommend that you use the lotion all over your body on a daily basis but I only tend to use it on my arms and legs which are the areas that are most affected.
It is easy to get the very thick white cream to rise to the surface of the bottle and as it starts to come out it looks very rich and nourishing.
The Dove cream has an unusual smell which I like but I have read that some women have found it to be a little bit too unusual !
It has a simple light fragrance that is neither floral or as such perfumed , try and work that one out !
The Dove Pro-Age cream sinks into the skin with ease and as it sinks in you can smell it but within a few seconds that light fragrance starts to wane.
A minute or so later and the cream still feels `greasy` on the top of my skin and the surface of my skin looks shiny.
It takes a while for the Dove cream to fully sink into the skin but once it has you can still see the light shine of the cream sitting on top of your skin. By that time the light fragrance has all but vanished.
The skin on my arms especially much appreciate a good covering of the Dove Pro-Age lotion and that `crepey` look is not as visible either. But the Dove lotion can only hold that dry skin at bay for a few hours, once it has been sitting on my skin for any good length of time then my skin looks as if it needs another layer.
But having said that the Dove lotion does make the skin looks nourished and the skin also feels well hydrated.
In my opinion the Dove Pro-Age body lotion is a good product but not a miracle worker. Apply the lotion in the morning and the skin feels good way into the day. The effects are short term but short of turning back the clock in terms of years what else can we expect ?
I love trying out new lotions and potions and the Dove Pro-Age range is a good one in my books.
Before I sign off I will say just one more thing though...Dove have called this Beauty body lotion and I think it is too thick to be called lotion, it should be called cream. ( Nitpicking again )
Summary: It does help mature dry skin.

- 14/09/09 I always wonder at this silly brand name. Shouldn't it be *Anti*-age, not Pro-age?! |
