Advantages: don't need to use much, absorbs skin well, nice packaging and smell

Disadvantages: too much can leave skin greasy

I got this hand cream as part of a Dove gift set at Christmas time last year (2006). The set was for nighttime products, and this cream is designed to help your skin with it's nightly regenerating process although I just use it whenever I need to.

It comes in a very soft plastic tube with a curved top and the lid on the bottom. It stands on top of this flat lid which has a flap. It's dark blue in colour with the logo at the top and the product title below that with a graphic featuring some little stars to make it look like the night sky. In a small golden box at the bottom there are the words "Night Care with Vitamin F", a vitamin I hadn't really heard of before getting this hand cream. You get 75ml in the tube which is a good amount as it lasts and it's small enough to travel with. On the back of the packaging it says that the hand cream has micro-pearls which contain the Vitamin F and intensive moisturisers. Below this small description there are bullet points explaining how this hand cream helps your skin such as *strengthens the skin barrier, *wake up to softer, smoother hands and *instantly absorbed. The back also has all the ingredients. The design of the tube means it's easy to close with slightly slippery hands after using it, unlike with the screw on lids that just slip around when you try to close them. With this one you just flip it shut again.

The cream itself isn't thick, but I wouldn't say it gets absorbed instantly as it does leave your skin feeling a little greasy for a while, but compared to other hand creams I've used it doesn't take long to absorb and when it does your skin feels lovely and smooth. The micro-beads in the cream are blue in colour while the cream is white. These little beads seem to disappear as you rub them in and the ones that don't just remain on the skin unless you rub them to make them smaller and smaller. It has a pleasant fresh and very slightly musky smell which is similar to that of the Dove hand balm intended for daytime use. It isn't an overpowering smell so if you do use it at nighttime it won't annoy you while you try to sleep. The texture is light and easy to apply but it's a also rich so you don't need to use a lot. If you do put on too much you'll find it takes ages to absorb properly, so it's best to start with just a little then you can build it up if you need more of it. The best way to get it to absorb is to rub both hands together continually. Since it's rich, you'll find that one tube will last a while.

Overall, I can recommend this handcream not just for nighttime use but for anytime. It is lovely and rich but isn't too thick so it absorbs pretty well. Since I got mine as part of a pack, I'm not sure exactly how much it costs but I'd estimate it to be around £2 or less. It's well worth giving a go, it's one of the best hand creams I've ever used!

Summary: one of the best I've tried
