Dove was only launched in the UK 12 years ago, making it Unilever's fourth youngest brand. Dove is committed to widening the definition of beauty for women because they believe real beauty comes in all ages, shapes and sizes. To help you enjoy your own brand of beauty, Dove provides an extensive range of cleansing and personal care products that make a genuine difference to the condition and feel of your skin and hair.
I read that information on their site and thought – no mention of men! I must admit I think the product I am reviewing today is more suitable for women and so gentlemen, although this may not be for you, you might like to read on and make the ladies in your life happy by treating them. And yes, treating them is the correct word as this liquid soap doesn’t come cheap! But I’m sure we are all worth it.
Hand-washing is an important part of life, notices are pasted up in public toilets “Have you washed your hands?” and “Wash your hands now!” mothers and people looking after young children are always saying “Have you washed your hands?” Most people wash their hands several times a day, so we need to have soap that cares for our skin as well as cleaning it and liquid soap or cream wash is more hygienic than a block of soap.

Bottle
******
My bottle is a pearly cream colour with a deeper creamy almost apricot pearl lid. The lid is different from any I’ve seen, not a straight forward dispenser, but the lower part of the lid is like a peaked cap! It does unscrew, should the dispenser become clogged and need washing. The bottle is nicely shaped and fits my hand well.
Dove makes me think pure, and they certainly keep their labels quite basic and clear. The blue “Dove” name is the most prominent feature and the small gold dove is just below the name. My bottle has the words Silk Glow and Silk Cream Wash added in a peachy coloured design. On the front is a small ¼ sign showing that is the ratio of active moisturising cream. The words “Silky smooth hands” finishes off the details on the front.
On the back I read that Dove Silk Cream wash gently cleanses hands with a special formulation that helps protect your skin’s natural moisture level. It is made with a combination of pure silk and moisturiser which helps give your hands a silky smooth touch. Also on the back is the list of ingredients, and details of the dove website which can be found at www.dove.com , worth visiting as it lists the ingredients and all the products. The bottle contains 250ml.

Price
*****
Bargain at Semi-Chem at 2 for £2.00, but usually each bottle costs about £1.59. Tesco have it on offer at £1.60 with BOGOF until early September.

This is the important part, when you first buy a bottle of liquid soap or cream wash as this is described you really have no idea what the contents are like. I released the dispenser by a quick flick and it was ready to use. I pressed down and onto my hand came a pearly peach coloured liquid, certainly not cream!
Silk holds 30 times its own weight in moisture, and the Dove silkening products contain pure silk your give your skin a silky touch and make it softly moisturised.

Result
******
It was quite runny but silky smooth and as I washed my hands under the warm water the perfume was released and bubbles appeared, quite a nice fragrance. Not too strong that I felt like sneezing, but a pleasant perfume, not too flowery either, but feminine. My hands felt clean and nice and soft when dried. No matter what task I have performed the cream wash seems to clean up well, garden mud, blood from meat, even garlic smells, all disappear leaving my hands clean. I admit to not using hand cream during the day since using this soap, whereas before I felt my hands were dry. Not something that my men folk would like though, this is to me for women only!

Instructions for washing hands
*************************
•Wet your hands with clean running water and apply soap. Use warm water if it is available.

•Rub hands together to make lather and scrub all surfaces.
•Continue rubbing hands for 20 seconds. Need a timer? Imagine singing "Happy Birthday" twice through to a friend!
•Rinse hands well under running water
Dry your hands using a paper towel or air dryer. If possible, use your paper towel to turn off the tap.

It does say that you can use it on your face too, but I don’t use soap on my face so haven’t tried this yet! The perfume remained on my hands for a while, but didn’t transfer to food I was preparing.

I do like the Dove cream wash but it isn’t my first choice in liquid soap.

Summary: Cream handwash that moisturises as it cleanses

I just used their soap in the shower.

Mind you, it was because I'd run out of my own!
