Advantages: Moisturising cream
Disadvantages: None as long as you are not allergic to any ingredients!
This is one of those creams which has always been part of my bathroom shelf, usually coming out to help us all in those "nasty skin" moments. At the moment, it is under attack from me-dry hands- all that nasty cleaning without rubber gloves!
It is a non greasy, unperfumed emollient (softening or soothing) cream which has been clinically proven to soothe lots of dry skin conditions, including sunburn, detergent hands (I got them), flaking, chapped skin and it is recommended for more serious conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, ichthyosis and some cases of psoriasis.
Get the red cross at the door...we have lots of those at the moment.
THE PACKAGING
I have a 125g pot and a 50g tube at the moment.
The tub sits on the bathroom shelf. It is a round white tub with a screw on and off lid, with the E45 logo and instructions/directions for use clearly stated. To use it, you pout in your finger(s) and scoop out as much cream as you want and the onto your skin it goes. At this point, I try to impress on my children that it's preferable if their hands are clean because we all have to use it afterwards!
The tube is the same white packaging and directions and again with a screw on, screw off lid. This I always have handy in my bag, along with multitudinous things, and use it mainly for my hands
THE PRODUCT
The product is a fairly thick white cream which has no significant smell (that's the unperfumed bit). When you rub it into your skin, it rubs in well and leaves you with none of that sticky residue. I sometimes find that some creams leave you unable to touch anything afterwards because your hands will slip off anything you touch. It is also not at all greasy
INGREDIENTS
White soft Paraffin BP 14.5% w/w, Light Liquid Paraffin Ph Eur 12.6% w/w, Hypoallergenic Anhydrous Lanolin (Medilan) 1.0% w/w, Glyceril, Monostearate, Citric Acid Monohydrate, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Cetostearyl Sulphate, Carbomer, Methyl Hydrobenzoate, Propyl Hydroxybenzoate, Purified Water
Having started looking at ingredients when writing reviews, I did notice that it has alot fewer ingredients than alot of other thinks and the absence of "Parfum" was noticeable!
WARNING
Unlike alot of products, the only warning is to keep it out of reach of children...quite sensible really, since they usually try to eat everything!
DIRECTIONS:
Apply liberally 2 or 3 times a day (externally) and if symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

VERDICT
Over the years, I have used this for many reasons...sore bottoms (children), psoriasis (hubby), drudge hands (me) and it certainly helps to soothe dry skin. I don't know if it heals but it dafinitely makes your dry skin feel better. At the moment, it's doing its best on my hands, and I have noticed that they don't feel as angry as when I was using normal handcream. For psoriasis, it appears to help him when he has a flare up (is it caused by stress?) and hubby swears by its healing qualities. However, there must be different types of psoriasis because it states that it can help only certain types. He must have the easy soothed type, or else he's not often stressed.
The tube is under £2.00 and the 125g pot is about £3.50; they last for ages so well worth the investment.
It's one of those old favourites my mum used to use (and still does( and a handy one to keep in the house
