Advantages: its safe for all the family , it works
Disadvantages: its rather expensive, its a bit greasy
I have dermatitis and have tried many different moisturisers and creams. The best I have used is only available by prescription as it contains steroids. I have found that E45 lotion is a good second and easier to get hold of than the other cream I use. E45 is available in many different forms and my opinion is just related to the E45 lotion. The E45 products are made by Crookes healthcare, along with several other skin care products. E45 is fairly expensive I think the 200ml bottle I have cost about £3.50, however I use it everyday on my face and about 4 times a day on my hands and the bottle is just about to run out but I started using the bottle about September last year (about 10 months ago!) The lotion can be found in lots of places such as supermarkets, pharmacies and the like, although not all of the range is stocked in all stores so your most local shop might not have the lotion. The lotion is a white fluid as compared to the cream, which is a white solid; this can be annoying as it is really easy to spill it everywhere when you squeeze the bottle. You don’t need much though to cover a fairly large area. It’s also perfume free and is dermatologically tested and allergy screened, this is to make sure that it is suitable for people with sensitive skin. The lotion claims to be non greasy, but I wouldn’t really agree with that, although the greasy feeling on your hands doesn’t last as long as it would if you were sing something like Vaseline. The lotion is suitable for frequent use and can be used on more or less the whole body, I find that the worst places for me are the hands and face and my boyfriend uses it on his hands, we both find that the lotion cools any itching or burning and usually prevents skin flaking. I do however find that if I use it on my skin when it has already started flaking that my skin goes red and becomes sore, so I find it best not to use when my skin is really bad. The ingred
ients are listed on the back of the bottle and are those you would usually find in such a product, the main two being water (aqua) and liquid paraffin (paraffinum liquidum). E45 lotion does contain lanolin, which some people are allergic to this surprises me as it is supposed to be hypoallergenic. For easy recognition, look for a white bottle with blue writing and the name E45 in a blue oval surrounded in a pinky colour oval in turn surrounded by another blue oval. Overall E45 lotion is good value for money in the long term as the bottle lasts ages and it works!
