I suffer with pain in my arms, which at times is unbearable and keeps me awake at night. I have tried pain relieving gels and sprays, but find them harsh on my skin, the smell overpowering and that transfers onto everything you come into contact with. So I am reluctant to use them.
I was looking around for something that was more natural and have tried various products with little success, so being a fan of Elemis products particularly their bath and body range when I came across this on QVC I thought I would give this a try.
What particularly attracted me is that this is a natural product and knowing the brand I was confident that it would be kind to skin and would hopefully deliver some relief. Also Elemis do not test on animals and this does not contain parabens ( chemical preservatives) and is free from artificial colours and silicones
There are a range of products in this line all of which are designed to ease muscle pain and stressed joints. I would say this range is suitable for men and women. Elemis also advise that this is a perfect product to be used as part of a fitness regime to ease aching muscles.
It is suitable for all skin types but it is not suitable for use during pregnancy
It is packaged in a very attractive deep blue glass bottle with a silver top, which can be recycled and displays nicely
The product is aroma-therapy body oil that contains a blend of essential oils which includes Maritime Pine, Sea-buckthorn, Sea Fennel and rosemary. The blend of oils used have anti-inflammatory, skin softening and nourishing properties. Sea fennel is used in many spa treatment products.
The oil is dispensed via a very small opening from which you dispense a small drop of oil, simply unscrew the cap and por a drop into your hands. This is really useful and some thought has been given to this as there is no danger of drenching yourself with oil and it going everywhere.
The oil is clear and has a nice consistency as it isn't too runny, yet is easy to massage into the skin
A little goes a long way so warm a few drops in the palm of your hands and then massage into the affected area. Elemis recommend applying this after bathing as it is more effective if applied to warm skin.
The oil is very nourishing and I have noticed an improvement in skin texture since I started using this and most importantly this does ease the pain in my arms. It is a nice light oil that leaves a slight sheen to the skin. I have dry sensitive skin and have suffered no irritation.
It absorbs quickly and does not transfer, stain or leave a residue on clothing or bedding. It smells of the sea with a slight herbal note, which I find really soothing. It is not an overpowering smell so can be used liberally and you won't knock everyone out you come into contact with.
I am not sure what the cause is , but I suffer pain mostly on an evening , particularly during the night, so I keep this at the side of my bed and apply before going to bed and can reapply during the night if the pain is really bad. I find it difficult to find a comfortable position to rest in, but after applying this, the pain does ease and give some comfort. It won't completely take the pain away, but can be used in addition to other pain management and an added bonus is that at the same time it will nourish your skin
I bought this in a 100ml bottle. Prices vary, at the moment QVC have this at £30 which also includes Elemis Instant refreshing Gel (another hero product) but it is widely available online. Elemis used to be sold mainly in beauty salons and spas, but it is now available in Debenhams.
It has a shelf life of two years but should be used within 6 months of opening. I have been using this for about 9 months and it is still going strong, but I think it has started to deteriorate as it does not contain preservatives, so time for a new one.
I don't use this every day and only apply to my arms , so I feel that I have had a good six months worth of use .
It isn't the cheapest, but I think it is worth every penny as it has certainly eased the pain and helps me get more sleep, so for me this is £30 well spent
This is part of the musclease collection by Elemis. There are a number of products in the range including bubble bath and bath salts, but this is my favourite and something I always make sure I have a bottle of in the house.
It vertainly isn't the cheapest product on the market at £29 for a 100ml bottle but you can often find it on various websites included in other Elemis offers which does bring the price down a bit. However I think that it is worth every penny.
I always make sure I have a bottle with me when we go skiing as I find that if you rub it onto any aching joints or musclease they really do seem to recover a lot quicker, also I find that if my legs are a bit stiff after running this really helps to warm the muscles through and get rid of that stiffness.
The smell of this oil may not appeal to everyone, it can almost seem antiseptic due to the pine and rosemary essential oils. The oils soaks into the skin really well but stays long enough for you to be able to massage the muscles effectively. A little bit of the oil will go a long way so whilst expensive you will find that it lasts for a long time.
