Advantages: Makes your skin soft
Disadvantages: Price, smell, amount you need to use per bath
I usually use Lush products in my bath so when I received a sample bottle of Elemis Bath Milk with my skincare products i left it gathering dust on my shelf, that is until i saw a review of it in a magazine, so I decided to give it a go.
The Elemis website gives the following discription:
"This award-winning formula has a rich Milk Protein base of nourishing Vitamins, Amino Acids and Minerals. Natural plant collagen feed the skin, whilst keeping it soft and supple. Excellent for sensitive and excessively dry skin. Can be used neat on dry patches, the scalp and mother-to-be's bump"
If I hadnt read this I would never have thought sbout using it on my scalp, I mean who puts bath milk on their head!!! Anyway I ran myself a bath and did as the directions said and poured 5 capfuls in, then massaged some into my hair and scalp whilst I bathed. What first struck me about the bath milk is the smell, it definately wouldnt be the smell that would attract anyone to the product, it reminded me of old fashioned body cream, it also just turned the water a milky colour so didnt make for a particularly exciting bath time. However when I got out the bath I did notice my skin feeling a lot softer, my hair just seemed its usual self.
For the price of the product approx £40 for a 400ml bottle I have to say it wasnt as good as I expected. It did leave my skin softer, but no more than a good moisturiser would do, and it didnt make for an overly pleasant bathing experience. The milk can be used as a moisturiser and rubbed straight onto the skin, but due to the smell it isnt a product I would use for during the day
Although it wasnt for me some people must find it to be a good product as it has won many awards, but I think I'll stick to only using Elemis for skincare.
Summary: Not one for me but a very popular product

- 26/06/09 I've heard putting milk in our bath makes your skin soft... it might be a cheaper alternative! |
