Can you imagine yourself as Cleopatra - lying back luxuriating in a sumptuous milk bath? Sounds good doesn't it? Well that it what Elemis promise with their Milk Bath. I bought a pack of Elemis products from QVC, mainly because it included this milk bath that all the presenters were in rapture about. When the package finally arrived I opened it and initially was a little disappointed at the size of the bottle - it was very small. Still, no matter, I thought, because on reading the instructions I discovered that you are only meant to use a capful.

I excitedly started running my bath, setting the mood with some candles as well, I was really looking forward to pampering myself after a hard day at work. Apparently, it is supposed to smell like creamy white chocolate (one of my favourite foods). As I opened my bathroom door I expected the whiff of sweet creamy chocolate to hit me and.................... nothing. I sniffed again but couldn't smell a thing, with disappointment I slipped into the bath, hoping at least that the water would be lovely and moisturising (also as promised) but for such an expensive product (on it's own it is nearly £20 in the shops) but it felt no different to some of the supermarket own brand products.

The next night I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt thinking that maybe I hadn't put enough of it in. In my haste, this time I tipped nearly half a bottle into the bath. Oh well I thought, it would be an expensive bath but hopefully it would be worth it for the pleasure. This time I could albeit faintly smell a sweet milky scent - although nothing like what I was expecting. Due to the fact that I had put so much in the bath, there were little blobs of the white creamy lather that hadn't dissolved properly, but when I got into the bath it made my skin feel so greasy and oily that I couldn't bear to stay in there for more than about twenty minutes.

Although Elemis have a number o
f great products this is definitely not one of them. For such an expensive and exclusive brand, to say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. Unless you have a couple of asses ready for milking in the back garden I would advise you to go to your local supermarket, where you can find a better product for a tenth of the price.

It is a good thing it did not make you feel like Cleopatra as you would be dead now having been bitten by an asp! Yes I agree with Northerner QVC, pah.
