Advantages: Smells ok, Doesn't streak, Doesn't cuase sensitivity

Disadvantages: Takes a while to soak in

Why go to the expense of using a cream when you can tan in the garden for free?
Well the main danger is skin cancer the next is wrinkles and although we may think we will never get the former once over 25 we all worry about the latter.

I have a skin that does tan fairly easily but I don't want my skin to look like a piece of distressed leather by the time I am 40.

I do not use Elemis fake tan exclusively but it is one of my favourites to use on the face and neck.

This is because it doesn't streak and gives a nice natural colour. I would say this product gives you a medium effect in one coat and if you want a deeper Carribean tan you can build up two or three coats over a couple of days.

I only use a cream on my face preferring a spray to do my body, I do find the creams last longer than sprays on the face. One coat on average takes a few days to fade.
Another cosideration is that my facial skin is sensitive to some products but the Elemis self tan does not cause any itching or red skin in my case.

The important thing when applying any fake tan is to do it properly. Take your time , exfoliate using a gentle scrub or peel first. Elemis then recommend that you moisturise first with their particular product.

I find it is best to use a scrub or peel followed by moisturiser, about an hour before I apply the tan.
Start applying the cream in the centre of the face(where the sun would naturally catch) and blend out to the neck and ears, don't forget to drag a little to the sides and back of your neck.
If you are fair or grey cover your hairline to avoid orange roots and rub through your eyebrows with a piece of tissue or cotton wool in case there is a build-up.
Give it at least an hour to sink in before you do anything else to your face, and be careful if you have a drink, a white circle around the mouth is not attractive.

The other reason that people avoid self tan apart from oran
ge streaks is the smell but this brand does not smell strong or unpleasant.

The best time of day to do this. Well it doesn't matter too much.
If you do it in the morning it's best not to try and apply any make-up for at least a couple of hours.
At night, just give it a good hour to sink in before you go to bed.

I shall carry on faking it.

Good op. It is the streaking that puts me of faking it, but I will give this one a go. Thanks.

I think tanning your face is less risky than your body as you can always cover up with foundation.

I don't have the guts to use fake tan on my face as I am so pale and would be worried about leaving streaks or white patches as I wouldn't be able to apply it properly. However, I have heard good things about this cream and know that Elemis is a great brand.
