~Provocative Woman Body Lotion~
This body lotion is offered by Elizabeth Arden and can be used alone on skin or with the perfume to compliment and enhance the fragrance. It is suitable for all skin types and Elizabeth Arden claim that this body moisturiser contains natural ingredients which help to condition the skin and leave it feeling smooth to the touch. This body lotion carries the same scent as the perfume - note details taken from the Elizabeth Arden website :
*Top notes - water lotus, quince and ginger lily
*Heart notes - papaya blossom, pink freesia and orchid
*Base notes - white sand, red amber and Hinoki wood
The picture shows a sleek looking bottle but this body lotion is mainly available in a tube. The tube is attractive yet very simple in design. It is a deep purple colour with silver writing and features a screw off lid at the bottom. I favour a tube over a bottle when it comes to body lotions so the design is to my liking.
~Where To Buy~
Whilst the Provocative Woman perfume is easy to come by, the body lotion as a standalone product is a little harder to find. I have had a look online and notice that you can buy the 200ml tube from Amazon for £25.16. The best est option is one of the gift sets and there is a 3pc set including a 50ml EDP, 10ml EDP and a 100ml body lotion for just £18.84. It is temporarly out of stock on other websites but it is worth keeping an eye out for special reductions. Check out eBay too for unwanted tubes from gift sets!
I love perfumed body lotions and was pleased to recently add a tube (from a gift set) to my growing collection. I have used alone and alongside the Provocative Woman perfume and favour using both together. With some body lotions, I find that applying both the lotion and the perfume together is just too much scent for me and usually one or the other is more than sufficient. This isn't the case with this scent as I will discuss further in my review.
I have very awkward skin. My arms and legs are bumpy and dry whilst the rest of my body (tummy, chest etc) is more 'normal' with very little dryness. I use body lotions daily to keep my skin hydrated but very rarely find a lotion which is suitable for use on my whole body so often have to use a more intensive cream or butter on the dry areas and a lightweight lotion on the rest of my skin. This is a little bit difficult when it comes to using a perfumed lotion as too many scents mixing together may not give the desired effect.
I find this body lotion to be best suited to my normal skin but I do use it on my arms too as whilst it isn't highly moisturising for dry skin, it does work fairly well. The lotion itself is fairly thick when dispensed and a small blob per area of skin is more than substantial. The white lotion spreads like a dream and leaves my skin feeling cooled and soothed whilst it absorbs. I find that a little of this lotion goes a long way and it feels incredibly silky during application which makes it feel rather indulgent in my opinion. My dry skin drinks up this lotion very quickly but I do need to massage it a little more in to certain areas to ensure that it is fully absorbed.
Once this lotion has sunk in to my skin, it leaves no residue at all so i am free to get on with getting ready. I find that this body lotion is very pleasant to use. My skin feels comfortable and beautifully silky and smooth to the touch. It does provide a good amount of hydration to my dry skin and feels incredbly lightweight. Most of my skin remains soft for a good 12 hours or so but the dry areas become rougher after a few short hours. It isn't one i would rely upon to keep my Winter skin moisturised all day long but it does deliver good results in my opinion. I haven't experienced any sensitivity issues with this body lotion and it is very gentle.
The fragrance blended with this body lotion is very nice and Elizabeth Arden have captured the Provocative Woman scent well even if the individual notes don't come through in quite the same way. This isn't the strongest smelling perfumed lotion i have used before hence why I favour using it alongside the EDP for a more intense fragrance. It smells gorgeous despite being fairly subtle. The scent is beautifully feminine. At first, I notice the ginger - warm, sweet and delicately spicy. It is quite a mellow ginger which comes through beautifully and isn't as strong as ginger often is in perfumes but this is a positive thing as it means that the scent is likely to appeal to a wider range of women.
The scent of this body lotion develops well on my skin and i find that the sweet ginger is almost always noticeable for the full time the scent is on my skin. At one point, there is a gorgeous floral scent evident which is headed by the pink freesia - light and airy. After 2-3 hours or so, the scent changes again and I notice a creamy, woody aroma which sits quite close to my skin and smells quite sensual and warm at times. This is the longest lasting scent on my skin when using this as a stand alone body lotion. I would say that the main scent is gone after 5 hours which I find acceptable.
~Layering With The Perfume~
As I said, this body lotion isn't very strongly scented. It does provide the perfect base layer to spray the perfume on to and this is my preferred way to use the body lotion. I find that the body lotion enhances the perfume wonderfully and both products used together creates a stronger, more consistent fragrance on my skin. The main fragrance notes of ginger, freesia and the woody notes are enhanced with the other notes lingering in the background and by using the body lotion as a base to the perfume, the Provocative Woman scent sticks around on my skin for a good 8-10hours.
I would say that this body lotion isn't my favourite perfumed lotion as it lacks the intensity that I prefer from a this type of product. It is however, a beautifully simple and feminine scent that smells really lovely and is likely to appeal to most women in my opinion as well as being suitable for most occasions . It performs well on normal skin types but doesn't provide long lasting moisturisation to dry skin. I would recommend purchasing a gift set as they represent excellent value for money.
