My favourite eau de parfum of all time has to be Estee Lauder's Beautiful, which is such a romantic and luxurious fragrance that can be worn any time of the day. Whilst the 30 ml bottle is generally priced at around £36 I will always wait until the stores stock up on the Christmas gift sets as I can then bulk buy and obtain the fragrance and a few other items for just a few pounds more. It is very rare that I will purchase the matching products on their own, particularly as they are so expensive, but a couple of months ago I decided to splash the cash and purchase a large gift set containing a number of Beautiful items; one of which was the Body Power with this review discussing my thoughts.
I have previously purchased the powder on its own, but only on a couple of occasions due to its price tag of £38 for 100 grams. Consequently, I was delighted to receive a smaller circular tub in my gift set containing 28.4 grams of this absolutely luxurious product. Despite my sturdy plastic tub being smaller than the one sold on its own, its appearance is simply stunning and is similar to the 100 gram version with the lower section being opaque, which enables us to witness the contents and the upper section offering a shiny golden coloured screw top lid.
Located underneath the lid is the powder applicator, which has been created from a slightly fluffy piece of padded fabric with the upper section offering a golden coloured length of ribbon, which has been tied into a pretty bow. There is sufficient space for me to push three of my fingers beneath the bow so that I can obtain a good grip of the applicator in order to apply the product to my skin. The powder is located in the lower section of the tub and is hygienically protected by a transparent cover; the centre of which offers a pull back tab that needs to be removed to reveal a dozen or so small openings to lightly dispense the powder.
Unlike the body powders that I generally use, such as The Body Shop Musk or Johnsons's Baby Power, which are white in colour, Beautiful is of a pale pink, which reflects the other products within the luxurious range. The powder is extremely fine and offers a similar texture to that of flour. I'm generally rather messy when using body powders, as I always manage to get the stuff all over the bathroom floor, but due to the way the powder is dispensed, there is no waste with all of the powder being applied to my body as opposed to my black floor tiles!
The powder is easily dispensed by gently turning the tub upside down whilst holding the padded applicator over the dispensing holes. The powder is wonderfully comforting when applied to the skin and is effective at absorbing any excess moisture. Despite the powder being pink in colour, the surface of the skin retains its natural tone once the light dusting of powder has been gently rubbed in. The entire contents of the tub remain fine and dust like and there is no clumping, which is nothing less than I had expected from Estee Lauder.
The body powder perfectly mirrors the eau de parfum, which offers top notes of rose, mandarin, lily, tuberose and marigold with heart notes of orange flower, ylang ylang, jasmine and muget and base notes of sandalwood and vetiver. Whilst the eau de parfum gradually presents the notes in three very evident stages, the body powder is more subtle. I would describe the fragrance as being delicately floral and musky with a very subtle hint of spices. I love to layer my fragrances, which enables the scent to last much longer and whilst the eau de parfum offers superb longevity, I can exceed the timescale by initially using the body powder followed by the body cream and then a couple of sprays of the fragrance. In addition to the powder offering its stunning fragrance, it leaves the surface of my skin feeling silky soft and smooth.
When using the body powder on its own following my evening bath, I am still able to witness the aroma when I get up in the morning, so it certainly offers good staying power. I would describe Beautiful as a wonderfully romantic and sensual fragrance and despite now being in my mid forties, I love the fragrance now as much as I did when it was first introduced in 1985. I find that my tastes change over the years where I can no longer tolerate certain fragrances, but as far as Beautiful is concerned, it's here to stay.
I can highly recommend this stunning body powder although its price is rather high as one would expect from a premium brand. As previously stated, the 100 gram tub is priced at £38, but a good time to purchase is during one of Estee Lauder's promotions, which are quite frequent where you can obtain a free gift with two purchases. Due to the reasons discussed above, Beautiful Body Powder receives five stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
