Fake Bake Self Tanning Mousse

Fake bake is the name of a premier range of fake tanning product that are available for self or professional application.

I have had fake bake applied professionally on two occasions. It was applied in a beauty salon by means of an airbrush. On both occasions I found that I had a beautiful, really rich and natural looking tan, almost as though I had been abroad for a fortnight. To have Fake bake professionally applied costs around £25 so with my budget it really has to be a special occasion. This is why I decide to try Self Application in the form of Fake Bake Mousse.

Fake Bake Mousse is available on line and from some beauty salons and department stores. It costs around £20 and is enough for several applications. It comes in a can with a push nozzle application. It looks very similar to a can of hair mousse. The tin is attractive and looks as though it cost twenty quid.

To use fake bake you simply apply the mousse to the skin as directed and the colour appears instantly. The initial colour is generally very dark so you can wash it off after twelve hours to reveal a paler tan. This is the recommended way to use the product. Ideally you should apply twelve hours before you need the tan and then shower.

My experience-
Basically I should stay away from fake tans. I am a danger to be let loose with them. The mousse was easy to apply and felt nice and soft on the skin. It did have a slight smell (hard to describe) but faded after a couple of hours. I managed to apply without any streaks and was happy with this. After twelve hours I showered and hey presto ready to go. There were however quite a few uneven patches on my arms and legs. It looked as though I had applied more to some parts of my skin than others It looked not too bad but certainly not like an expensive fake bake mousse. The colour in general though is really good a natural looking. Very brown, no tangy orange bits.

Overall-
I think this is a great product but just not for me.

Summary: Great product just not for me
