Advantages: Tightens skin, softens skin, hydrates dry skin...
Disadvantages: Not always on offer!
One look inside my bathroom and you will guess what item it is I buy, over and over - moisturiser. There are just too many different ones in the shops, all with different smells and moisturising properties. So if I see one on offer, you can bet I will buy it just to see if one has the staying power on my skin. The scent especially if my boyfriend notices the smell then it will go on the list of moisturisers that actually work. So out of the hundreds of moisturisers I have tried I thought I would tell you about this one as it is the one on the list permanently!
~*~ How Do I spot It? ~*~
This lovely moisturiser comes in a 3 inch tall tub, made from pale, slightly transparent, pink plastic which you can see the body cream through and know how much you have left without even having to open the tub. The black lid is screw on, and is slightly transparent too. The tub has the FCUK logo on it and a quick description of the product on the front, with a little more detail underneath and how the moisturiser is meant to make your skin. There is also the ingredients and more details about the product being good for your skin on the back. So with all that information so readily available you are certain to know if this product would be any good for you and your skin's needs.
~*~ What Is It Meant To Do? ~*~
According to the writing on the tub, this moisturiser is going to provide lasting hydration for your skin, locking in moisture and help protect against dehydration. Which is usually the idea behind a moisturiser, that and to keep your skin nice and smooth. It also claims to keep your body feeling soft, nourished and supple... Meaning it can be used on any age skin as it has nice properties for anyone who fancies giving it a go.
~*~ What Does It Actually Do? ~*~
When I first bought this I was on the lookout for a replacement for a body butter I had previously had from 'The Body Shop' I had bought before Christmas in a lovely cranberry scent - which they had stopped selling. So I wanted something with a similar scent, that was until I saw this one on half price. Opening it in Boots I took a whiff of it and immediately decided that I was in love with the smell, and popped the lid back on and wandered off to the till with it. I was looking forward to using it after a bath later that night, with that lovely smell and what seemed like a similar consistency of the body butter I had previously been using.
Firstly the tub states that you should apply morning and night, ideally after a bath or shower, not everyone has chance to do it in the morning especially straight before work, but if you put it on the previous night you are more than likely to still be all soft and smelling lovely without lavishly reapplying morning and night.
The consistency of this moisturiser is as I said similar to that of body butter, but I have to say it is a little softer and a blob of this on your finger will cover a larger area of skin than body butter would... A fifty pence size piece sufficiently covers my lower arm, and usually the majority of my upper arm. Obviously for legs and torso there needs to be a lot more, I never seem to use lots of it because it simply melts when it gets onto your skin so it can just be pushed around when it's been touched, because it changes into a liquid almost meaning it spreads out a lot more than a body butter.
The bit I love most about this moisturiser is the smell; it is apparently a mixture of sparkling mandarin, osmanthus flower and vanilla. Now I have no idea what an osmanthus flower is meant to smell like, but if it is anything like this moisturiser I'll happily have some in my house! I won't lie this scent is a very flowery scent that is very hit and miss depending on your taste, it is also a very sweet smell, to go with the flowery smell. Which I know is not everyone's cup of tea, so if you like a potent sweet scent then this is one for you, because the smell lasts a good twelve plus hours - even better if you can find a complimentary body spray, as the smell will last even longer (Charlie Pink works well with this!)
As for making your skin, nourished, supple, soft and hydrated well I cannot fault it for that at all, I find I have particularly dry skin at times and one layer of this over my skin it becomes nice and smooth, to a point where you wouldn't think I had dry skin at all which is a nice benefit as the boyfriend never notices until he borrows it for his own skin. Giving this a unisex appeal, the scent is fairly feminine but the smoothing and hydrating properties are good for both male and female skin. After all if you're a man who wants to use it, but thinks it is a little too girly; spray some masculine scent on top and you're away. Even if you apply this moisturiser and have a shower a few hours later, you will find that the soft skin will be there, the scent might be overloaded with whichever shower gel you use so might need reapplying a little.
Overall this is a great smelling moisturiser than can be used by either men or women, that has a great nourishing and hydrating property, with the oils in the product without making your skin greasy in the process. If you have dry skin or even small patches of dry skin, give it a go as it is half the price of a body butter and lasts about twice as long, with more extracts to give your skin the look it deserves.
~*~ Where Is It? How Much Is It? ~*~
The only place I have seen this body cream available has been in Boots, but it varies in price depending on offers. I bought mine for around £4 on offer, but it can be bought for less depending on the time of year and the offers available. Normal price tends to be around the £6 mark but compared to a body butter of the same weight, that's half the price. So give your body a sweet smelling treat, it will thank you for it...
Summary: A good value bodycream, that lasts ages and smells great!
