I often find that FCUK and Ted Baker release gift sets at Christmas that have a rather masculine scent, despite being marketed at women.
I would not describe myself as a fan of either brand when it comes to their beauty products. As well as being a bit on the masculine side I also find that they are quite expensive.
I received this FCUK Pure body lotion a while ago in a gift set.
It comes in a very light green coloured tube with a large, bold floral design and ‘fcuk pure’ in black lettering down the side of the tube.
The tube sits on its semi-transparent flip cap lid.
The tube contains 75ml of body lotion.
Price and availability
You can buy a 75ml tube of this body lotion online at amazon.co.uk for £8.99.
The body lotion is white in colour.
It feels quite thin in consistency and I find you don’t need to use a lot of product. It is easy to rub in to my skin and it doesn’t feel sticky at all. There is no residue left on my skin after I have rubbed the body lotion in.
It makes my skin feel soft, smooth and hydrated.
I actually really like the scent of this body lotion. I seem to remember it came in a gift set with the matching body spray, which I used up very quickly.
The scent is really fresh and clean. I have to admit that it isn’t the most feminine scent, but it doesn’t lean towards the masculine end of the spectrum either. It is just a clean, fresh scent. I’d say it is slightly aquatic, but not in a masculine way.
I don’t think anyone would find the scent of this lotion offensive.
I think this is a nice body lotion to use. The scent lingers on my skin for a while after using the product. It is nice enough and I haven’t found anything to dislike about it, but I wouldn’t rave about this lotion. The scent isn’t out of this world and the skin hydration result does not shock me. I think £8.99 is about £6.00 or £7.00 more than I’d be willing to pay for this body lotion.
I think the scent is a bit more special than your standard Dove body lotion, but not £6.00’s worth of more special.
I like this lotion and would recommend it if you find somewhere to pick it up cheaply, but at that price I can almost guarantee you’ll be disappointed.
I received this body lotion as part of a gift set so thought it was the perfect excuse to try out something new to base a review on!
This body lotion claims to have natural oils of jojoba and coconut and vitamin E-which I hadn't actually noticed until after I had put in on! I might have dither whether to put this on or not had I read this first as I'm not the biggest coconut fan. However, Vitamin E is always regarded to be good for your skin so that's a bonus.
Oddly thought the ingredients are not on the b are not on the bottle, I'm not sure if all FCUK products are like this or of it's because it came from a set, maybe I have misplaced the label somewhere.
It comes in a fairly nice bottle, a handy little pump on the top so you can control how much you use a bit easier.
''A soft floral Oriental scent built around a delicious fusion of violet, pepper and vanilla notes''
Again had I actually read this label I may have thought twice about applying this as vanilla is another scent I'm not fond of, for some odd reason it ca give me a headache.
Luckily-or no so luckily-you can't really smell the vanilla to much.
To be honest I'm not really keen on the smell of this product, I am more favoured to fruity, or sweet smells and the smell of this products reminds me of incense sticks. This is not my cup of tea but could well be someone else's. Even smelling my skin now, it smells a bit smoky the way incense does.
*Using the product*
''This rich body moisturiser melts easily into your skin. Vitamin E aids skin softening and conditioning while jojoba and coconut oil provide long lasting hydration to ensure skin is left soft and supple''
After rubbing this into my skin after a shower I did notice how well it melted into my skin! It has a really nice thick consistency which felt really nice when rubbing it in.
It did melt in that quickly that I think I double moisturised on some parts as it didn't have that slightly sticky feeling you get after you apply moisturiser.
My skin now does feel very nice and soft however, I could be being fussy but I don't have that nice plump feeling that I get with other moisturisers. My skin does feel really good though, like it feels how it should feel all the time! Even the areas prone to being a bit more dry feel good.
I just need to keep an eye out for any skin reactions, as I have very sensitive skin so should really be more careful about the products I use. My slightly more irritated bits of skin do feel slightly itchy but nothing extreme that would stop me using it again! Should this change I will update the review!
This is a really nice product but due to the smell it's not something I would buy again. That and the brewing itch on the sensitive parts of my skin-mainly on my arms on the inner elbow.
I am not going to take a star away for the smell as this is just my taste, and if you like this smell it would be great as it really lingers on your skin!
The fcuk pure body lotion belongs to a group of bath and body products available exclusively (as far as I'm aware) at Boots. The fcuk brand refers to French Connection UK and their clothing line is quite widely known. Strangely, I have never seen any of these toiletries in a French Connection store I have always got mine from Boots.
The fcuk pure body lotion is available in two sizes. The full 300 ml size retails at £4.34 and the travel 75 ml size retails at £2.35. As with most products within the Boots indulgent bathing range this product can often be found on 3 for 2 and other special offers. At the time of writing there is a 'spend £4 get a free gift worth £8.43' offer on the fcuk range which is very good value and has been on several times. Overall I think £4.34 is the higher end of what I would pay for an everyday body lotion but when taking the offers into account they lower the product price range significantly making it more affordable.
The overall packaging of this body lotion is very feminine and attractive. The lotion comes in a clear pale green pump top bottle. The pump is handy for when you need more product, it is easy to press and get more without slipping about. The fact that the bottle is clear means you can easily see how much is left. The only downside is when you are nearing the end it is hard to extract what you can see is left using the pump. I usually use the bottom of the pump to scoop out the remainder. The packaging has a distinct fcuk signature and the usual information you would expect from a toiletry product such as shelf life, ingredients, size in ml and a description of the product. The product has a floral oriental design in the same colour as the bottle but in a matte finish. The makes the product look very sleek and attractive.
The product itself is dispensed through the pump at the top of the bottle. The lotion is white in colour and quite thick in texture. You can deposit a blob on your hand and turn your hand around without it running. The lotion is easily absorbed and doesn't feel greasy. I find that I can feel the soothing moisturising effects immediately. The fragrance is described as being 'a delicious fusion of violet, pepper and vanilla notes' which I think sums this product up perfectly. The oriental design on the bottle reflects the scent of this product. It is quite a cool, clean smell with a hint of spice. It makes me think of holidays. I only use the product occasionally as I prefer less scented lotions unless I'm going somewhere special so I cannot comment on how well it would last with daily applications.
In conclusion this is a good product. It moisturises, smells nice and isn't greasy. It also looks good on your dresser. A good range for those that like designer labels. The product is part of a wide range so would be good for layering fragrance.
I received this FCUK pure body lotion in a gift set as a present, along with a few other bits. The body lotion is the one I am using at the moment.
~~ The packaging ~~
I have the mini tube, which is basically a 75ml squeezy tube, that stands on it's lid. The lid is a flip top lid which makes it very easy to use and avoid spillages. The tube is a soft yellow colour, with a mint green flower on it. Down the top left hand side is the FCUK pure logo. At the bottom it says "Body lotion" "Natural oils of Jojoba and coconut and vitamin E". This body lotion is also available in a larger 300ml version, with a pump to make it easier to dispense.
~~ The product ~~
Written on the back of the tube, the product claims to be:
"A rich and moisturising daily body moisturiser for ultimate hydration. Enriched with softening and conditioning oils to provide long lasting moisturation to ensure skin feels soft and supple"
~~ Using the product ~~
This body lotion has a really thick consistency. It is white in colour, and rubs in well to your skin. I didn't like the smell of the body wash in the same range, as the smell was very over powering and sickly sweet, but I feel this body lotion is much better. The smell isn't so overpowering, and the smell isn't too bad, although I don't love it. I do not like heavily scented toiletries, but this one does smell quite fresh. It smells slightly florally sweet.
When rubbed into the skin, it smooths over it nicely, and soaks in well. It also doesn't leave any greasy feeling like I have had with other thick creams in the past. I have been using this cream mainly on my legs and arms and they have felt nice and soft instantly after using the cream, which is good.
~~ Price and where to buy ~~
The FCUK pure range can be found in Boots.
Boots have these on special offer at the moment, with the large 300ml bottle currently priced at £2.67 (Usually £4). And the small 75ml mini which I have is currently on offer for £1.50 (Usually £2.25), so they are reasonably priced.
~~ My opinion ~~
It is a nice enough body lotion, with good results. However, I can't see myself buying this again, as I think it is pretty average, and doesn't offer a lot more than any other body lotion would, but it is nice for a change.
I first tried the FCUK Pure range when I received it as a Christmas gift in a set of FCUK products, most likely from the 3 for 2 bargin range at Boots... Which EVERYONE seems to get.. These sets are always left lying around my house until money gets slightly tight and I've ran out of a usual product or when I am feelin bored and adventurous.. This is the last of the set I recieved that I am reviewing..
As you can see on the picture the bottle is a very light green colour with a grey design, I think the designs on all the Pure range are perfectly suited to the product name, they look so simple and natural. I recieved the product in a set and it was in a toothpaste type tube rather than the squirty bottle in the picture. The opening is a translucent top which can be easily opened and closed, which makes a clicking noise so you know when it is securely closed. On removing the product from the tube a simple light squeeze will ensure the product comes out.
Once the product is out you can see that it is a very white and looks like quite a thick cream. On first touch the product is a lot softer than it looks when first sqeezed out. When you start to rub the product in, you can smell it immediately. It smells quite like the FCUK Pure Shower Scrub and has a very uniquie smell, some people i'm sure will love it and others will probably not like it very much. I would describe the smell as warm and spicy - it is described on the tube as 'natural oils of jojoba and coconut and vitamin E'.. I like that the product has vitamin E in it as it is an anti oxidant and is vital in protecting skin cells and also has anti aging properties, all of wich are great to have in a moisturiser.
On using the product, I just massaged it gently in circular motions on wherever was feeling dry and parched. I also used this after using the exfoliating shower scrub. I used it mostly on my arms and legs, a little goes a long way. When rubbing the product on I could really smell it. The product smooths in well and has a cooling feeling when put on, you actually feel like you can feel it working on your skin.
Your skin will feel moisturised after using this. It states on the back of the product 'a rich and nourishing daily body moisturiser for ultimate hydration. Enriched with softening, and conditioning oils to provide long asting moisturisation to ensure sin is left soft and supple.' What I liked about this product was that the smell stayed on your skin for aggges and you could continue to smell it throughout the day. I havn't tried to use this product on my face and I don't think I would, I have quite sensitive skin and I don't think it would moisturise as well as my usual face moisturiser.. A downside to this product would be that it feels a wee bit sticky afterwords.
A 75ml tube of this product is £2.25 in Boots. I have never seen it is a bigger version but you might be able to get this somewhere. Boots always seem to have good offers all year around, so always look around. You can get advantage card points on these aswell, always an excuse to spend a little bit more.
The FCUK Pure has so many different products in the range:
FCUK Pure Shower Scrub
FCUK Pure Body Spray
FCUK Pure Body Wash
FCUK Pure Handwash & Lotion
FCUK Pure Handcream
FCUK Pure Eau De Toilette
All of which are a different prices ranging from £2 - £12 and can be got in Mini or Regular size.
It didn't say a list of ingredients on the back of the product, it does give you an address and a website though.
It states on the tube that it can be recycled.
This is a good product but I think it's the only one out of my set that I wouldn't go out and buy, but i'd take it as a gift again deffo =)
FCUK Pure Body Lotion is another high-quality, delicious-smelling product specially formulted for French Connection by Boots. The packaging blurb describes it as "rich and nourishing", recommends it for daily use and promises that its long-lasting moisturisation effects will "ensure skin is left soft and supple". This is a review of the 75ml tube rather than the 300ml pump bottle.
*** The packaging ***
The lotion comes in a standard, flip-top plastic tube (which is recyclable) in a soft, pale green colour with a flowery pattern and black lettering. It looks pretty, fresh, funky and modern and fits well with the lotion's soft, sweet, floral fragrance. I've no problem with the tube except that you need to cut it open to get the final 4 or so applications out.
*** Applying the lotion ***
The consistency of the product is unusual - it's not creamy (e.g. like hand cream) but feels very rich nonetheless. It's also extremely light despite the fact that it contains oils, and it has a silky feel to it. The lotion spreads very easily over the body and absorbs very quickly, leaving the skin feeling satiny smooth. There are no minutes spent waiting for it dry - you can get dressed straight away - and it has never irritated my (quite sensitive) skin or stained my clothes. When I use it I do get the feeling of lasting hydration - my skin stays silky until my next shower. I might want something a bit richer and thicker in the depths of winter though.
*** The scent ***
I'd describe the lotion's fragrance as deliciously floral, sunny, summery and light. It's fairly strong and long-lasting, as body lotions go, without being overpowering. It fades slightly after application but I can still detect it on my skin for the rest of the day. I find that it has a slightly different smell to the other products from the same range, though like them it contains violet, pepper and vanilla notes. I actually prefer the smell of this body lotion to the FCUK Pure eau de toilette as the lotion has a slightly more tropical scent - this must be because of the added coconut oil.
*** Where to buy ***
I received my FCUK Pure body lotion as part of a gift set, but it's usually on sale separately at Boots for £2.25 for 75ml or £4.00 for 300ml and is sometimes on offer. It's not being sold on the French Connection website at the moment. It will last 24 months after opening before it needs be thrown away. It would never last that long in my home though!
*** Conclusion ***
A product that does what it says on the tube - delivers lasting moisturisation and smells lovely.
I was given this along with a couple of other products from the range and they were all a complete let down! FCUK are a great company and you don't expect them to create such disasters!
I love body lotions and creams, I always use them every day. I like to feel soft and smooth and hate the thought of smelling bad so I like things that are moisturising and nicely scented, this failed on both counts, completely!
This is not moisturising at all, I might as well not have put on a body lotion at all for the way my skin felt an hour after applying this lotion! It is certainly not of any use to someone with dry skin, not that I do!
The scent is sickly sweet and not very nice, just overtly floral and musky with a heart of vanilla and no redeeming qualities to it at all!
At £4 it is cheap but it certainly isn't worth bothering to buy it!
I first received this product in an FCUK set with shower scrub, body spray and bodywash also. It came in a gorgeous green makeup case too which is very cute and handy! :)
The bodylotion was bound to be good because I think FCUK product many great cosmetics and beauty products, there are different bottles and designs but mine is a 75ml squeezy tube. The tube is semi-transparent with a green tinge and the words FCUK Pure bodylotion on the front. It is described as "a rich and nourishing daily body moisuriser for ultimate hydration. Enriched with softening and conditioning oils to provide long lasting moisturisation to ensure skin is left soft and supple".
It also claims that it contains natural oils of jojoba and coconut, and vitamin E (great for the skin!).
The directions for application are: Massage gently into clean skin.
Its that simple! The lotion is thick, but quite "slidey" if I can use that word! It runs and slides around alot if put onto your skin. It is a creamy white colour and smells really nice! I can smell - violet, pepper, vanillla, pink grapefruit and pomegranate! These smells are both refreshing and relaxing at the same time which is great! The lotion massages quickly and easily into skin, without leaving a sticky or oily residue. Skin feels much softer, but it doesnt feel as if there is any product on the skin at all!
It can be purchased from Boots in a huge 200ml bottle for £4 or smaller sizes can be found on eBay.
It seems quite expensive but lasts a long time and is a really great moisturiser, almost as good as my Clinique one! But for a fraction of the price!
Thanks for reading, ratings and comments much appreciated :)
