Advantages: A bar packed with moisturising properties
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
A few weeks ago I ended up having a browse in my usual Lush store having amazingly stayed away from the store for quite some weeks (admittedly I'd been into Gothenburg's store back in April!) and saw and bought my usual products. However for whatever reason I was in desperate need to a really nice hot long soak in the bath - I had been rushing around so much for the past few weeks all I had time for was showers and not for long relaxing baths!
I saw the lovely wooden shelves which hold the bath melts which are my usual favourite should I be in need of a pampering night! I've always stayed away from Floating Island, I don't know why I have as it really isn't a bad melt at all. I think one of the reasons could be that every time I've been into a store the floating island ends up looking quite dirty and squashed! This bath melt looks like a batter colored cupcake and is the size of a large muffin which is great!
Floating Island contains cocoa butter & almond oil which gives this cupcake-shaped melt a rich, butter-based vanilla cake frosting scent as it slowly bobs around in the bath, enveloping you in a creamy, milky froth.
It is incredibly hard to pinpoint Floating Island's fragrance as the scents used really try to baffle you. The sandalwood and lemon oil are the most prominent to say the least, they will initially take you back to a wonderful tropical island image and then later on they could take you almost to a rain forest, that lovely deep earthy smell.
Floating Island's aromatic aura has quite a subtle nature, but its endurance gives one the feeling that this is intentional and should be regarded as part of Floating Island's charm; it should be savoured second by second. As floating starts to melt your skin will instantly absorb its oils and your skin within minutes is feeling silky smooth. And the good news is, this silky smooth feeling doesn't stop once you're out of the tub, your skin feels uber moisturised for hours
However because the scent is quite subtle the best way of making it a bit more intense then this bath melt can lend its intensive skin-creaming benefits to bath cocktails with any of the following (and yes I have tried them all!): Bon Bomb, Creamy Candy, Melting Marshmallow Moment & You've Been Mangoed bath melts; Bottle of Bubbly, Happy Birthday & It's A Date bubble bars; small bits of Each Peach & Two's a Pear, Soft Coeur, or Therapy massage bars used as bath melts also work a treat. Just depends which notes you want to bring to the forefront, whether sweet, citrus, or woodsy. Cocktailing is also a great way of using up other bits and pieces of your Lush stash which are not suitable for sole use.
Floating Island is undoubtedly one of Lush's most versatile baths. Simultaneously sedative & tonifying, it makes an equally lovely pick-me-up bath whether at the end of a hectic day or at the start of a lazy do-as-you-like day.
Instructions as per Lush:-
Drop half or a whole bath melt into the tub as it fills with warm water. When the tub is full, get in and let the natural oils soften and moisturize your skin. Bath melts are designed to melt at body temperature so keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
What Lush say:-
Slow melting sandalwood and lemon luxury.
Technically, islands don't float but let's not split hairs. Our Floating Island is a vanilla scented melt with a touch of reviving lemon which floats in your bath gradually dissolving, softening the water and smoothing your skin. It's a wonderful treat for a weekend bath when you can stay in there as long as you like, at least as long as it takes your Floating Island to melt, by which time you will feel so relaxed you won't even mind getting out.
A Floating Island will cost you £3.18 which I think is a great price for such a great bath melt. I don't know why I've never tried it sooner! I already have one on order and can't wait to use it again!
Summary: The perfect moisturising bar
