Can it repair my battered, scaly legs? (Garnier Skin Naturals Body Repair)

Advantages: Moisturising, quickly absorbed.

My skin is ridiculously dry, really, it's ridiculous. In winter especially, probably partially because of the cold and partially because I do tend to shamelessly ignore my skin during the cold months. Every patch of skin is covered up all the time anyway and it's just too cold to sit there smothering myself in cream - although Zoe's suggestion (in another review of this product) of warming the cream up in the microwave does sound delightful!

So, with the warmer weather coming on and th thought of having to bare my legs and arms looming, I really needed to find something that would fix my skin fast. Particularly my legs were in bad shape - looking scaly and tight, not attractive! Now I have tried covering them in other cheap creams, they alwys seemed like they should do the job - thick, white, creamy moisturising creams, which left my legs feels sort of oily - how could that not be moisturising? But somehow my legs never really seemed to get much better. I needed something better.

I settled on the Garnier Skin Naturals Body Repair because it was marked as being for very dry skin - sounds about right! THe cream is not cheap, retailing for around 4 pounds from most shops, although I paid a bit less for mine on a special. For that price I got a large bottle, containing 400 ml of lotion, although there are also smaller sizes available, like 250 ml. The bottle itself is distinctively bright red, stands easily on it's base and has a handy flip top lid with a good-size nozzle for squeezing the cream out of.

When you squeeze the cream out of the bottle it is a thick consistency, white in colour, and has a sweet scent (presumably from the canadian maple syrup that it contains). Rubbing it into your skin is easy and it is quickly absorbed so that you can't see the cream anymore. Your skin still feels moist for a few seconds or a minute but this soon either soaks in or evaporates and the skin feels dry again to the touch. Directly after applying the cream my skin feels smooth and only a tiny bit oily, moisturised. The sweetish smell does linger a little but is definitely not overpowering or sickly.

Does it make a difference to my skin? Well, I've been using this cream for a couple of weeks now, applying it whenever I remember, probably once a day every other day. I definitely notice a difference in the quality of my skin. The white flakiness is already gone from my legs and although in the light I can still see a little bit of scaliness, I think this will also continue to fade with regular use of the cream.

Overall I am happy with this cream. I don't know that I would say it's a miracle product, I suspect that if I tried some other intensive mosturisers I'd be able to find one that works as well and maybe even a bit cheaper. But I'm happy with the purchase that I've made and will definitely continue to use the bottle that I have. After that's finished, being a bit fickle when it comes to brands, I'll probably try something else and see how that turns out, but I wouldn't rule out buying this again.
