Advantages: easy to apply, nice smell, even tan
Disadvantages: None
It does seem these days that the market is awash with gradual tan products, each of them boasting a natural, streak-free tan with the added benefit of moisturised skin. And to be honest, not all of them make the mark. I've tried a few. The "original" gradual tanner was Johnson's which to be honest, smelt pretty bad - I always thought a bit like biscuits - and streaked down my legs. The Simple equivalent would not rub in for love nor money and however many applications you put on, just didn't seem to make much of a difference in terms of colour.
But then I tried Garnier's Summer Body and really liked it. My housemate recommended it so I thought well, why not. I found a two-pack of the stuff in my local Bodycare store, which meant that I got it for around half the price it's sold for in Boots or Superdrug. Putting it on is nice and easy - the texture is reasonably runny which I like because it means less elbow grease required when applying. It doesn't smell like stale biscuits either which is an added bonus. The colour just took a couple of days to appear properly although I still had marks around my ankles (a result of poor application I think, rather than a product fault). In a few days, it really did look like I had been in the sun which is amazing seeing as even when I'm in the sun, I don't tan, I just freckle. My skin did feel much more smooth and hydrated which was also great as I tend to have very dry skin in the winter. The colour last's a while as well which is good, and it just fades away just like a real tan.
Of course, the downside with these moisturisers is that you have to put them on very meticulously so you tan evenly, and you do have to do it every day. However, it really only takes 5 minutes and it means you look a lot more healthy than most people in your office! And of course, it's much safer than sunbeds and it doesn't give you that orange glow that sunbeds do which can lead to the highly embarrassing staring in the street at the girl walking in freezing temperatures as orange as - well, an orange.
All in all, this was an excellent product and very bargainous as well. From all the gradual tanners I have experienced, this would certainly be my recommendation.
Summary: A good gradual tanner, no streaks
