Advantages: A gradual tan builder, moisturising lotion, doesn't run

Disadvantages: None

Yea!!! It's summertime, well almost, at least the sun is shining but there's one problem, am I ready, no, my legs and arms are pale and pasty and as I have blond hair, blue eyes and a very fair complexion I need some help.

This is where Garnier and their summer body lotion comes in handy. I have had trouble with fake tan's in the past as they end up making me look orange and fake no matter how closely I follow the instructions on the side on the product. The great thing about this summer body lotion is that it is a moisturising lotion first with just a hint of self tan so your skin is meant to look sun kissed, not sun drenched!

The fact that it is a lotion makes this product really easy to apply. I use it right after I get out of the shower and pretty much make sure I cover all areas of my body, paying particular attention to areas like the elbows where I make sure it is rubbed in properly. I generally use it at night and let it sink into the skin. The next morning it looks as if you have caught a bit of sun and have a bit of nice colour rather than looking fake. Then you can reapply as much as you want, they recommend everyday use to build up a nice looking, long lasting tan. I find if I don't reapply the colour lasts for about three days which is perfect.

I apply this to my face as well as I feel it is gentle enough to use there and gives nice colour too. One thing you must remember is to wash your hands after use so your hands do not get coloured.

Apparently, according to their website, the lotion is enriched with specially selected camomile extracts and soothes and moisturises the skin so it is left soft and supple. I would definitely agree with this, it is more like a moisturising lotion and my skin does feel lovely after I use it.

There are two shades that you can buy, light sun-kissed and deep sun kissed. I use the light sun kissed as it works better with fair skin but if you want a bit of a darker shade then you can use the deep sun kissed variety.

The lotion does have a smell to it. It is quite hard to describe, it is not a chemically smell which is nice. It has more of a light coconuty smell much like a sun tan lotion. The smell does stay on your skin but fades after a while. The lotion doesn't run in the rain or if you get sweaty which is great as you have no embarrassing moments with sun tan lotion streaking down your legs and arms.

In Boots a 250ml bottle is £5.65 but I believe they are running a promotion where you can buy the product now for £2.82. If you want more information on any of the Garnier products you can visit the website at:

A product that works that I would definitely recommend.

Summary: A gradual self tan builder for perfect summer skin!
