Occasionally I will go mad and stock up on things I haven't purchased in a while cos I have a spare few quid in my purse. This happened the other day whilst I was in Sainsbury's! I did need some new blades for my Venus razor and at the same time I got a shaving gel and these, some spare blades for emergencies type of thing!
For as long back as I can think I've used a 'proper razor'. Not since the days of nasty yellow bics have I used disposable one's but I am aware how they have meant to have come on over the years and I was curious and at a special offer price of £1.46 down from the usual price of £2.92 and getting 4 decent looking razors in a pack it seemed a good deal to me! Be aware that I am reviewing Gillette Agilite 'Plus' and not the regular Agilites! lol.
The Packaging...
Long white and clear plastic packet with a hole situated at the top so they can be hung on display in the shop. On the front in purple, pink and white writing I'm told they are Gillette Agilite Plus 4 Comfort handle razors. On the back all in turquoise writing I'm told a bit about the razors (and that information is told over in over in different languages), contact details for Procter & Gamble are given (the manufacturers of this product) a recycle symbol is displayed, ingredients are listed and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice simple packaging.
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Packaging....
Pivoting head follows the curves of your body. The thin comfort blades with a MoistureRich strip containing Aloe an Vitamin E glide effortlessly across your skin.
Soft comfort handle designed for great comfort and control.
The Razors....
Well they appear cheap looking to be honest once you get them out of their packet. They are thin, made of plastic and are white and light turquoise in colour. They have gripping areas to the sides of it's 'body' and Gillette is written on the handle bit. At the end of that you have 2 really thin blades one in light blue the other in light turquoise and it moves all over the place. Over that you simply get a clear plastic cover to keep on the razor when it's not in use.
Now bear in mind I'm 34 years old and I've been shaving my legs and bits and bobs since I was 14. I'm a dab hand at it and rarely have any accidents these days!
So I used this on wet and really lathered up legs and away I went on a couple of days worth of stubble!
Although the head moves (pivots according to Gillette) it scrubs skin harshly. Instead of gliding over the skin they stop and keep nicking the skin. I thought nothing of it till I rinsed off, felt my legs and I could feel some bits of hair left, skin looked pink and dry where I'd really tried to be a bit more heavy handed to get rid of stubborn hairs I had a total of 11 cuts, 3 of them bad and really deep and bleeding all over the place.
I grazed all my legs had blood everywhere and I'm almost certainly scarred for life. These are simply awful and please avoid them!
Verdict....
Please do not buy these there's far better out there. My legs hurt, 3 days later are still badly grazed (so much so I can't wear a dress or a skirt at the minute). They don't remove all hair, do remove skin and there's nothing kind about them. They are simply cheap and very nasty razors ladies!
Summary: Awful

- 03/05/09 I agree, they are awful! I went from my venus razor to disposables (I couldnt afford venus anymore!) but you do get what you pay for. Saying that, the wilkinson sord womens disposables are pretty good, at least the best of the ones Ive had! Excellent review x |
