Advantages: Pretty colours. Cheap.

Disadvantages: Feel dull & scratchy. Uncomfortable to hold.

I can't honestly remember the last time I used a disposable razor...if at all... I usually stick to refillable razors, such as my trusty Gillette Sensor Excel. However, being down to my last blade, I decided to try out a cheaper alternative...

This decision came on impulse. Browsing in my local Wilko's I happened across Gillette Agilite disposable razors on a 'clearance' display. The packaging drew me in - pretty turquoise razors, pink & purple packaging. Closer inspection made me realise that the razors were by Gillette (same as my trusty refillable...check...), had 2 blades (same as my trusty refillable...check...), & had a lubricating strip (same as my trusty refillable...check...). The only difference appeared to be in the price, with one refillable blade costing around £1, versus 4, yes FOUR, disposable razors being a mere 92p! (Granted this was the reduced price - I have no idea how much Wilko's were selling them for originally, & I'm assuming that since they were a clearance line they will no longer be selling them?).

The next day, I removed the razors from the packaging. The razors were very light, but not very comfy to hold - they look all ergonomically moulded from the front, but aren't so around the back. When I came to use the razor, I lathered up my pins with soap & water (which is all I ever do with my refillable razor) & prepared to glide the razor along. Yes I know I said glide, but what I obviously meant was DRAG, 'cos that's what happened next. The blades felt dull, scratchy & HURT. I perservered & got a bit more of a knack with the razor, but the shave was still anything but smooth. My legs felt smooth enough afterwards, but felt sore & tingly.

I am very disappointed with my run-in with disposables. I'm not sure if this is how they all feel, or just the Gillette Agilite, but I am suffiently put-off trying any more now. I feel that if Gillette can't produce a decent disposable, then probably no-one else can either....

In future I shall gladly fork out £1 a time for my refillable blades...

Summary: One to avoid....

I had a similar experience with these razors but can assure you there are decent disposible brands out there - not Gillette obviously - LOL! There's a reason these were in the clearance section ;-)
