Advantages: Silky smooth legs;
Disadvantages: Slightly pricey
I'm a bit of a sucker for any razor that promises smooth legs, although I'm not a slave to the brand name razors - if a supermarket razor works well I'll use it. However I do like to try out new razors so I decided that as I had a friend's wedding coming up for which I wanted smooth legs, but wasn't brave enough to wax, I'd use some Boots points to buy a Venus Embrace razor.
This razor retails for a somewhat expensive £7.84 in Boots, and a similar price in other retailers, although offers in cluding the razor and blades are likely to appear once in a not too infrequent while. For you money you get a brightly coloured razor and one blade (and a holder that I haven't tried out but obviously suckers to your bathroom wall and holds the razor and a spare blade or two).
The razor is blue and green in colour , so that you can identify it on the shelf from all the other types of Venus razors. It has an ergonomically designed handle, which was very comfortable in my small hands, with a ridged grip section, which I feel is a big improvement on the soft rubber fins on the original Venus razors as I found black mildew developed in these if the razor was kept on the edge of the bath (which I do having nowhere else to put it). The head section is bigger than a usual Venus head due to the 5 blades and the large moisture strip. The moisture strip does seem to put a layer of moisture down but does not remove the need for shaving gel or whatever you preference is.
The razor itself is very easy to use. The head is lightly spring loaded and has a wide range of movement and follows your contours easily, so far no nicks.
Once I had shaved my legs they felt silky. I shaved my legs on the Saturday and they remained this way till Sunday. Even on Monday I was happily wearing a pair of shorts as only a bare minimum of stubble was visible. I shaved my legs the next time using my usual 3 blade Boots own razor whose performance I had previously been more than happy with. The Embrace razor definitely outperformed my old razor, the shave I got was equivalent to the Monday after shaving with the Venus Embrace.
When I bought this razor I was just going to try it out as I was sceptical that it would be any good or worth the high price. I have now decided that as we are going to have a hot summer and I want to wear shots and skirts I will definitly be using the Venus Embrace until Autumn.
Summary: Worth paying the extra for the result this razor gives
