Advantages: Smooth, not need to shave for 4-5 days, moisture line improves experience.
Disadvantages: Replacement blades are very expensive.
I love that hairless feeling I get after having a shave all over, or having a salon wax on my legs and getting my bikini wax done, I just feel much, much sexier and my confidence is increased, because I think I look better without hair on my body. Usually, I only go to the beauticians to get all my hair removed, which cost me about £50 a time, and with me trying to save money, I've been trying other methods for hair removal, which won't cost me as much money as the salon. I was abit wary of using razors to remove hair, because of those little bumps I've got before, the coming back so quickly and some razors I've tried in the past, just haven't got me smooth enough for my likening. I saw an advert for Gillette Venus Embrace in Company magazine, and the recommended it quite highly, so I thought I would give it a go, to see if it was as good as waxing and how long the hair removal lasts for. Gillette Venus Embrace claims to "hug every curve for a close shave and dramatically smooth skin." and apparently "5 blades are used to get a much smoother shave." But does it live up to the promises?
I first noticed that the Venus Embrace was that there was a moisture line, just above the actual razor, which apparently protects my legs while shaving and gives the Venus Embrace a smoother glide down my legs and any other places. I also use Shaving Gel on my legs, to give that added moisture but also stops my legs being itchy when I've finished shaving. Shaving Gel isn't an essential for shaving but I would recommend it, as it helps a lot during shaving, especially when shaving more intimate areas.
The 5 blades did actually give me a very close shave, there was no hairs at all left on my legs, as the blades got all hairs and stubble on my legs, I was very, very impressed. After getting out of the shower, I noticed that my legs also felt lovely and smooth, thanks to the Shaving Gel and also the moisture line on the Venus Embrace, which was really great and a great positive, as other (cheaper) razors I've tried have not had a moisture line, which made shaving dry and sometimes painful. Also the moisture line can sometimes stop the razor from cutting your skin while you shave, according my wise mum, which is always a great advantage, as cuts on your legs= not very sexy.
With other razors, which I though were useless, I had to keep shaving everyday, because the hairs kept growing back, giving me uncomfortable and not sexy stubble on my legs, and if I didn't shave everyday the hair would just keep growing back, so I was cautious about the Venus Embrace, and assumed that it would be the same, but as my wise mum says "assume things makes an ass out of U and Me", and I was very wrong about the Venus Embrace. After using it, the hairless feel lasted around 4-5 days, which I was very, very impressed with, and because that means the Venus Embrace will last longer and wouldn't need replacing for a while, although you should replace razors around every month, as the blades can get rusty and blunt, and don't give such a good or close shave.
Gillette Venus Embrace is available at most pharmacists, such as Boots and Superdrug, and also most supermarkets, such as Tesco and ASDA, using they are sold down the Beauty or Woman's Health aisles of the Supermarkets. The actual Venus Embrace costs around £5-7, but also available are Venus Embrace Blades are available in packs of 3, which are around £7-9 and also packs of 6, which costs around £13-16. I personally would try and shop around for cheaper prices, such as Markets, and also Poundland, as I believe they sell them in there, as a cheap old price of a pound! Even some websites may sell cheaper Venus Embrace Blades, so I would un doubly shop around for cheaper prices.
Summary: A great, cheaper option but doesn't beat waxing!
