Advantages: Moisturising , Attractive, Really works

Disadvantages: Price of razor and refill blades

I'm always keen to try stuff that has a lot of hype surrounding it, to see for myself if it's true. And in this case, it was! So here's my review of Gillette Venus Divine razor........

Looks: The razor comes in clear plastic packaging, backed by blue and white patterned cardboard. It has Venus Divine written in white writing, highlighted by blue. Near the top is a little purple droplet shape, with Intensive Moisture written underneath it. When I first saw the packaging I thought 'Great! And how am I supposed to open that without doing myself an injury?'. But on turning the package over, I found 'To open, pull here' written on the card at the back and a little notch cut out of the plastic. I simply pulled where this notch was, and packaging came open really easily. The razor itself, is a lovely deep metallic blue with white rubbery grips at the side. Venus written on it in silver. Then a pearlised white button at the top that you push, to disperse the blade when you change it for a fresh one. The blade is mainly white, with purple moisturising strips backed by blue rubbery bits. When you by the razor itself, it comes with a little plastic holder, and when you open this, there is space inside to store additional cartridges. The holder has a little bit on the front to hold the razor and you can attach a fitting so you can have it on the wall in the shower. Very handy! But I haven't done this as, I'd be worried about the razor going mouldy! The cartridges come in their own little package, so they won't get damp and go rusty. To change the blade, you simply press the button near the top of the razor to get rid of the old blade and then open the packaging of the refill, and push the handle into the refill and off you go.

How to use: I normally use it in the bath. I simply wet my skin, apply some shaving mousse and shave as usual. Then rinse off.

Is it any good?; Very! It glides over my skin easily, leaving no nicks, cuts or razorburn. My skin feels ultra soft and smooth even before I apply my body lotion. My skin seems to be smoother for longer, too. Usually with cheaper razors, I can already feel stubble by the end of the day, however with this one, I was still lovely and smooth well into the next day. Fab! Also with cheaoer razors, I had to chage the blade after every use, but I've used one blade twice and it's still nice and sharp and shaving well. Which means even though the initial outlay may seem a bit steep at around £6 for the razor and the same for a pack of 4 refills (you get 2 cartridges with the razor to start with), it turns out to be very good value in the long run.

Conclusion: I'd reccommend this to anyone that wants a decent razor. It doesn't dry my skin out, cut me or give me stubble a few hours later! An all round fantastic product!

P.S The Venus razor also comes in pink, and original light blue. But I think the pink one is over a pound more!

Its not fair they charge so much for the blades for these. I try to buy my replacement blades in the cash and carry (16 for a tenner). Good review. Keep up the fab work. N.x
