Advantages: Moisturises legs, three blades give close shave
Disadvantages: Expensive!
I bought the 'Venus' razor when it first came out a few years ago. This was the first version of it, and since then there have been 3 or 4 new ones! Basically the razor has disposable blades you can buy for it and then throw away when they get blunt.
These blades haven't come down much in price since they first came out. Back then you would pay around £7 - £8 for a pack of four blades. Now they cost around £6.50 in Boots and Superdrug, but they are often on special offer with either money off, or buy one get one half price. It is possible to get them in 8 packs, but I haven't seen them in the shops very often. This works out a little bit cheaper per blade. They are also widely available in supermarkets and other chemists too.
Each blade is individually packed in its own plastic packet, which has a lid which you simply pull back so you can the razor out. The razor blade easily clicks onto the razor and is easily removed by pushing the button on top of the razor.
The Venus razor is the best razor I have ever used, and this is mostly down to the blades. Each razor blade has three blades in it meaning that it gives a closer shave. I always find my skin to be really smooth after I have used these. Sometimes I get a slight shaving rash with some blades, or the skin on my legs gets really dry but I haven't had this trouble when I use these blades.
On each razor blade, there is a moisturising strip which is blue. This is meant to moisturise your legs as you are shaving and I really think it does! But when you put the razor down, this strip can get soggy and stick to your bathroom counter and leave a little mark on it, and also stick the razor to the counter. You can wash this off but it is just a little niggle I have with blade. I try to remind myself to put it upside down when I put it down now.
I don't think I have ever cut myself using these razor blades. I have had the odd nick but that it mostly down to me not changing the blade often enough (my fault completely!)
The only thing I have against these blades is the price. I have often thought about buying a new razor with cheaper blades since these work out to be really expensive. But I like them too much, I don't think that I would be able to find a razor that matches the high standards set by Venus.
Summary: Gives a great, close shave. Best razor blade I've tried
