Advantages: A really good shave, No nicks, Looks good
Disadvantages: If it was cheaper, would be even better!!
Well at least I can say that my legs are from Venus now! I nearly always shave my legs, sometimes I dabble with waxings strips or hair removal creams, but find them fiddly and time consuming so return to the good old razor. Unfortunately I just usually grab the nearest one in the bathroom, which more often than not is just a cheapy that my husband has bought. Just recently the Gillette Venus razor for women has been extensively advertised on the TV. As soon as I saw it I thought I'd give it a go. However I didn't realise the price of it and got a shock when I saw it was £5.99, quite a bit dearer then the little Bic disposables I'd been using! Eventually though curiosity got the better of me and I bought one in Boots with my points card. The razor comes with it's own little container which you can attach to your bathroom tiles/wall via a little plastic gizmo which slots into the back of the container and has two sticky pads on it. The front of the container opens up and inside you have four storage compartments for your new blades (you get one blade on your razor, ready to go and a spare too. Your Venus razor just slots into the front of this container. This costs £5.99. The replacement blades come in packs of four and also, I believe, cost £5.99. The razor itself is quite an odd looking shape, but in an attractive blue colour. It has a good rubberised grip at the bottom. The actual head of the razor is very flat and has an enourmous amount of movement. It has 3 blades and a blue indicator strip above the top blade which gradually fades, indicating when you need to pop in a new one. It also has cushions above and below the blades which help with the shaving process. To change blades it has a blue button which you just press forwards and the whole head comes off. New heads just click straight on. Now, to the important bit, how does it shave? Well I used this for the first time yesterday and I was absolu
tely amazed by it. You know how on all the shaving commercials women just run the razor over the whole length of their leg (ankles and knees included) without ever cutting themselves? Well, if you're anything like me and try to shave like that you end up with lots of little nicks. Surprisingly, that's exactly how you can shave with this little beauty. Because the head has so much movement it is really easy to shave with; because it moves so easily over bits like ankles and knees and you don't have to stop and start and gingerly shave these areas, it's a lot quicker to shave. It also left my legs feeling really silky, this is because the blue indicator strip has Aloe and vitamin E in it. All in all this is a really fab razor and well worth the £5.99 it costs. Go out and get yourself one!
