Advantages: Rounded razor head, Stays sharp for ages, Good "suspension" on blades for a nick-free shave
Disadvantages: Quite pricy - but worth every penny
The day before my holiday, I did my usual trick and rampaged through Boots, armed with a full-loaded Advantage card, to get all those essential lotions and potions that a girl needs when she heads for the sun. Halfway through the “Battle of Boots”, I was about to reach for my usual Sensor Excel replacement blades, when something glistened and glittered in the corner of my eye…..and there she was….Venus! Not living in a cave, I had of course been subjected to her fierce advertising campaign, but had thus far been unconvinced of her charms. But lo and behold, there she stood, taunting me with promises of Goddess-like legs….. and extra Advantage points! Transfixed, I reached forward and took hold of her, whisked her off to the till, and left Boots, (feeling a little disgruntled at the price I had just paid, but optimistic nonetheless!). Later on that night we bathed together and fell in love. Venus delivers the closest shave I have ever experienced! Leaving the skin satin-smooth after just one stroke. Having used my mans Mach 3 before, I’m used to the benefits of triple-blade razors, but the Venus’ charms are more then 3-fold! The fact is that for the first time ever (it would seem) razor designers have considered the female form and the demands placed on any shaving equipment. We have curves and hollows which need defuzzing, unlike the comparatively flat surface of a mans face. Instead of a wide, flat, rectangular blade, the Venus has a more petite oval-shaped curved head. This is the main advantage, in my opinion. It fits in the nooks and crannies better (and makes the delicate operation of shaving the back of the ankle much less daunting!). Knees are a breeze, due to the gently curved and pressure-responsive blades. Venus certainly is at the “cutting-edge” of shaving technology (sorry!). After a week on holiday with me (defuzzing every day R
11; pits, pins and bikini line!), my Venus (with original blade) was still performing as faithfully as she was when I picked her up in Boots! I must admit that I’m smitten.

- 30/05/01 You well and truely turned what I thought was just going to be an op about a boring old razor into a fantasy, how funny and well written.I own one of these Venus Razors too, I think it's great but the down sides are that it is a bit too sharp sometimes and it doesn't have a handy travel cap to slip on over the head when you are on the move ! |
