Advantages: Clean shave, Nice design

Disadvantages: Head a little large for me

I have had a Boots gift voucher lurking in my purse for nearly 12 months now. I just hadn?t come across anything I really wanted. However, I was becoming dissatisfied with my method of ?fluff? removal and decided to have a look at what other options were available. I came across the Gillette Venus for Women and decided that it was time I kicked my Bic Orange into touch. The Gillette Venus razor pack cost me £5.99 from Boots and a pack of four spare blades also cost £5.99 ? not cheap but as this was my treat then I didn?t mind.

The Gillette Venus comes in two colours, pink or blue. I nearly went for the pink but decided that it was just too pink and I couldn?t find replacement pink blades, so I chose the blue. The razor comes in a bubble pack with an instruction card and two sealed spare blades. The instruction card is fairly basic as Gillette seem to have concentrated on getting as many languages onto it as possible without thinking that some people might actually like to know how to use the thing! Anyway, that isn?t a problem for me being a very experienced fluff remover and having suffered rather too many nicks in the process.

Along with the razor and blades is a storage box for the razor and spare blades, which can be stuck onto the tiles at the side of the bath ? not for me, but I?m sure there are many of you who will find this useful. The razor itself has a curved handle and is soft and rubbery to the feel. I tend to shave whilst in the bath or shower and I find that the handle gives very good grip and does not become slippery even when covered in soap. Now I don?t use shave foam ? just good old soap, but I find this razor works much better than my old Bic. The Venus has a tilting head, which contains soft pads top and bottom and three blades ? to shave you closer. Well, I can?t disagree with that as the end result was definitely better than with the Bic and with less hassle. It was just much easier to use and didn?t require the s
ame amount of pressure as the Bic. It is very simple to change a blade ? they just clip off using a button and on.

I do find the head a little large for me though ? being of a small stature! However, the fact that the head tilts just about makes up for this. My legs and underarms ? and other areas (!!) - are the smoothest they have been in a long-time, no stubbley bits left at all. Assuming the blades last for a while I am quite happy at the price, although it could always be cheaper! All in all I recommend the Venus as a good razor to use.
