In 1921, Guccio Gucci opened a leather good store in Florance. The company developed over the decades offering bags, clothes, jewellery and even baby and pet items amongst others. They also have a range of fine fragrances.
Gucci is a fashion house with catwalk style and can be found up there with the likes of Dior and Prada. It is now a worldwide company.
***Product and Range***
Gucci Envy Me is one of Guccis fragrance ranges. It is described as being a floral fruity fragrance.
Top note of lychee..heart note of peony..base notes of pink musk and sandalwood.
To compliment the scent, there is a body lotion which is what I will be reviewing. The body lotion is made up of the same notes as the Envy Me fragrance. It has been designed to be use along with the fragrance to create a layered effect which will allow for longer staying power on the skin.
There is also a shower gel in the same scent available.
I have a 50ml, gift set size. The full size bottle is tall and rectangular offering a simplistic yet pretty ensemble. It is uncrowded in terms of writing and is designed to match the fragrance bottle.
My tube is made of squeezy, clear plastic. The tube sites on a white lid which twists off to reveal a nozzle inside. As with the bottle, this tube is simple. The Gucci Envy logo is seen on the front in silver with the Me being in pink. This is a way of identifying that this isn't the original Gucci Envy. The front of tube also has the body lotion logo and size. The contact details for Gucci can be found on the back of the tube.
The tube can be recycled and must be used within 12months of opening.
As you would expect of a body lotion, this should be gently massaged into the skin under absorbed. It can be used alone of with the shower gel and/or fragrance to build up the scent.

I am a lover of all things which smell good and that make me feel good about myself. With that being said, you are most likely to see me shopping for Johnson's than the likes of Gucci. As you may know, I often sell high end brand products on my ebay account. I often buy lots in bulk, sell some and keep some goodies for myself. This is how I came to own a 50ml size of Gucci Envy Me Body Lotion. One sniff and it was in my special box along with my precious Prada Body Lotion! It must be special!
I feel more confident about using the tube. As it stands on the lid, I am able to squeeze every last bit out. With a product so expensive, I believe this to be a godsend as a bottle can often lead to dregs being left at the bottom and that is a complete waste of money.
I like to keep my extra expensive body lotion for special occasions. My Envy Me lotion was therefore released from its golden chambers for a night out at the cinema a few weeks ago (I don't get out much!). I personally do not own the fragrance and have never actually smelt it so cannot comment on the likeness to the body lotion so this is an independant opinion.
The tube allows me to see the lotion within. It is a delicate pink colour and I can see it is quite thin just by the way it swishes around the inside of the tube. The tube allows a decent amount to be released by a gentle squeeze. The body lotion is cooling on contact and the scent is very inviting. Although it will sit on my skin if level, when I hold my arm up, it begins to lose its consistency and begins to run resembling thin yoghurt.
I like to use this on my arms as I can't really smell my legs so it seems a shame to waste it on them! My arms are rough and extra sensitive. I often react to perfumed products so I tread carefully and test before going in fully and covering myself! I found that I only needed a small blob of this body lotion. Despite its runny consistency, it appears to cover a good amount of my arm.
Once I start to massage this into my skin, it turns from a runny lotion to an oil like texture. This concerned me at first as I didn't want oily skin! It takes a minute of massaging to fully absorb and during this time, the scent intensifies. Once fully absorbed, there is a slight oily feel for a few minutes and I found I needed to wait before getting dressed. This isn't really an issue for occasional use. The oily feel subsides and allows the skin to feel very hydrated and soft to the touch. So far I am impressed!
So what about the smell. As with a fragrance, the notes of the body lotion develop over a space of time. As there is only 4 notes in the fragrance, this body lotion was sure to be unfussy and not overcrowded as with some fragrances.
As I applied the body lotion, the lychee scent was detectable and provided a distinct, sweet fruit combination which was to die for. It was completely addictable and one which I would be happy to wear all day. As this subsided and the body lotion soaked into my skin, the floral note of pink peony seeped through. I am not overly keen on floral scents but this was gorgeous. It wasn't in your face yet it was delicately noticable. It was light and refreshing and lasted for longer than I had anticipated.
When the body lotion fully soaked into my skin (when the oily feel subsided), the base notes became apparent and added a pleasant depth to the fragrance. Sandalwood gave a warmth and lasting aroma whilst the pink musk was detectable but took a back seat.
I also applied a small layer of this body lotion to my neck and shoulders and it was certainly a pleasure to be able to smell this. The fragrance on my skin lasted for around 8hours. I would expect this from such an expensive product. I felt that by applying this to my neck area, I didn't need any further perfume as it would interfere with the beautiful scent. If I were to purchase the Gucci Envy Me fragrance, I would probably only need to use it to top up later in the day as the body lotion lasts so well.
Throughout the lotions stay on my skin, it allows my skin to remain soft and provides a hydration that I don't seem to experience with cheap body lotions. I am keeping this body lotion for special occasions like parties or if someone decides they want to take me out somewhere nice *wink wink*.
£28.00 is a lot to pay for this body lotion but as it could easily double up as a fragrance, it is well worth it. This is going on my Santa list along with that Prada Lotion and a bottle of Miss Dior Cherie..I have standards you know!
Thanks for reading :)
