“ Brand: Guerlain / Exfoliator / Type: Body Lotion / Subcategory: Body Scrub / Exfoliator / What it does: Exfoliates, Exfoliates, „
Guerlain product are not cheap and at £18.99 for a 150 tube of body scrub this Body Secret Blue Exfoliator is no exception to the rule however despite the cost it does prove to be excellent value as it is very effective as an exfoliator and it is also very kind to my skin.
I love the vivid dark blue colour of the tube with silver writing on the side and a white plastic flip top lid on which the product stands when not in use. There is a small aperture under the flip lid from which the cream will come out of and I like the fact that this is quite a small hole as it reduces the risk of using too much of this expensive product and wasting some of it. I only need a small amount in the palm of my hand to cover all of my face easily as it spreads evenly over my skin.
This product has excellent exfoliating qualities and it leaves my skin feeling both fresh and clean. I also like the invigorating effect this scrub has on my skin and it has a nice healthy glow after washing with this. There is a smoothness to my skin that you can really feel and the great thing is that while this product is very effective it is also quite kind to my skin as well.
Clearly the bif drawback with this product is the price and the one thing I do struggle to justify is the cost of the product, you are in part paying for the Guerlain name and the guarantee of quality but I'm not 100% convinced that the actual product contents justify the price, the one redeeming feature is that you do not have to use a lot of this product in one guy however I tend to only use it on my face and neck, while it could be used as a complete body exfoliator I think that then the cost would be a factor.
It is worth getting but only as a treat in my opinion.
Whenever I run out of my usual products I always raid my mum's cupboard in the bathroom as she usually has loads of expensive goodies inside that I'd never normally use. It was no different the other week when I asked to borrow an exfoliating shower gel or scrub and she told me to help myself. It was of course on purpose that I picked a product from a brand I've used a few times before, Guerlain, they're a high end brand and I've always experienced very good results so I decided to use it during my cleansing/ exfoliating/ moisturising routine.
The Claim: "A gentle exfoliating body scrub. Helps strip away dead cells & rough spots. Incredibly eliminates surface impurities Ensures a firm smooth youthful body. Effectively reveals the bodies softness & inner glow. Boosts skin ability to absorb more moisture. Suitable for all skin types.
Guerlain Issima Body Secret Blue Exfoliating Scrub comes in a 150ml tube; my mum says she paid nearly £20 for it. Now considering how much of the product you get for your money I think this is a little bit ridiculous. There's not a huge amount in there but I wasn't paying so I wasn't about to complain.
The exfoliating scrub comes in a tube as I said before, which is deep blue in colour, to match the name of the product of course. The text on the tube is silver, I find it a little bit old fashioned but maybe it's just me. The white plastic lid is a flip cap, there's a small hole from which the exfoliating scrub comes out and it's very easy to get just enough. The tube sits upside down so all the product is ready and waiting by the cap and not stuck in the bottle of a bottle.
To use I like to apply a little bit of the scrub to my fingers and gently massage over my face paying special attention to my nose, and any other places I've found particularly greasy/ clogged with dirt. The scrub is quite harsh so it's important to be gentle when using, I've found a little bit does go a long way.
After using my skin definitely feels a lot cleaner and fresher, I'm not left feeling like I've been harshly scrubbed but my skin feels lovely and soft and smooth. Even after just one application to touch my skin felt a lot better, especially compared to using some cheaper exfoliating scrubs.
I was pleased with the results from Guerlain, the scrub did its job and left my skin very smooth. However, for me the price really is just too much, it's not something I'd buy for myself but would be happy to use it again at a cheaper/ free price.
There are lots of exfoliating creams and scrubs available to buy online and in supermarkets but if you have sensative skin then you really have to watch what you buy. Sometimes it is better to pay a little extra for a gentle exfoliating cream than to get a cheaper one which leaves your skin looking red and blotchy.
I have made the mistake of buying cheaper brands at the supermarket before and have done more damage to the skin than good, so now I am prepared to fork out the extra bit of cash to buy a good quality exfoliating scrub. The one I usually go for is Guerlain Issima Body Secret Blue Exfoliating Scrub.
I have only found this online and buy it from strawberry.net or onlinecosmetics.com and this is when it's available, as this is a well known beauty product and is often sold out or not in stock, so you really have to grab it when you find it as it works really well.
A 150ml tube will cost you around £17 depending on where you can manage to buy it from, I found it once on Ebay for £15 which was a lucky find and the tube is a dark blue plastic one with a flip up lid for easy application. You only need a little of this exfoliating cream and it has to be gently rubbed into the skin on the face, taking care not to scrub too hard and make the skin red but just gently rub in small circles around the nose and t-zone and cheeks of the face being careful to avois the eyes. A little goes a long way so it will last you a few weeks so has value for money factor.
This exfoliating scrub helps to remove dead cells and eliminates surface impurities which helps to prevent spots as well as helping reduce the blemishes on the skin.
It is suitable for all types of skin and it tightens the skin leaving it feeling fresh and soft and smooth after use.
The skin looks radiant after use but not red just fresh and clean. This works really well and is good to use at night if you have been using make-up that day as it removes the make-up that ordinary cleansers leave behind. You can feel the difference in the condition of the skin from before use to after use. I really rate this as a good beauty product and have been buying for over a year now as it's one of my favourite exfoliating scribs. I will be buying it again and am very happy to recommend it to you.
