Only really worth buying in the gift set

Boss Femme perfume has been my favourite perfume for a good while now, as I love its sweet, classy scent. While shopping around to try and find the perfume at the cheapest price possible, I was delighted to discover the Perfume Shop had a Boss Femme gift set, consisting of a 30ml bottle of perfume and a 50ml tube of body lotion, for £25 - which is roughly the same price that Boots and Superdrug sell the perfume for on its own.

The lotion comes in a pink tube-like container which is light pink in colour and has a silver screw-off lid, which the tube stands on. The words "femme" are printed in dark pink print in the same font as is found on the perfume bottle. The brand name and other information are printed in silver letters near the bottom of the tube. Overall, the tube is very classy looking, reflecting the classiness of the perfume, and would be an attractive addition to any bathroom shelf.

Screwing off the lid, the tube is gently squeezed to push out the lotion. Only a gentle push is needed, and if you push too hard you might get a bit more of the lotion than you wanted. On smelling the lotion, you will be glad you notice that, as undoubtedly expected, it smells exactly the same as the perfume. So, this body lotion lets me smell of my favourite perfume from top to toe - definitely a good thing.

The lotion has a very thin consistency, which means a little bit goes a long way. Only a tiny squeeze of the tube is required to produce enough of the product to cover a whole forearm, for example. This advantage does tie in with one disadvantage though - I find that the tube's small size means that just one tube won't last you for very long, especially if you plan on using the lotion all over your body and not just in specific areas. The adverts at the side of the page, however, are telling me that you can also get the lotion in 200ml tubes, which would obviously last a good bit longer, but of course it costs a lot more at this volume and as it doesn't come as part of a gift set it probably isn't as good value for money - but my maths skills being what they are, I could be completely wrong!

The body lotion counterparts of perfumes are often recommended for their ability to strengthen the perfume they are based on. I often wear Boss Femme perfume over this body lotion, and sadly it's not a perfume which is very strong, despite being lovely. I can't honestly say I have noticed any difference in the perfume's staying power as a result of applying it over the lotion, but then, other people may notice more, as we don't tend to be able to smell our own perfume after a while due to the brain blocking out smells after a certain amount of time.

On its own, the body lotion isn't very strong either - it gives the skin a more subtle perfuming. Sadly, this also means that it doesn't have wonderful staying power, and after a few hours after application the scent of the lotion will be almost undetectable. By the way, incase you've never smelled Boss Femme and therefore are wondering what the lotion smells like, the Perfume Shop website calls it a "floral sheer oriental fragrance" and states that it has heart notes of Madagascar jasmine, lily and rose; top notes of tangerine, black currant and freesia and base notes of amber and apricots. All in all, it definitely has a very feminine feel to it, hence the name.

As for its moisturising qualities, I get the feeling this lotion is more focused on the smell it provides than how soft it makes your skin. If your skin is already fairly soft, it will enhance the softness to a certain degree. However, I sometimes like to apply body lotions to my hands, as they tend to get particularly dry, and some body lotions are great in moisturising my hands and making them feel very soft. Sadly, Boss Femme body lotion hasn't ever done very much on these dry patches, apart from turning them into very nicely scented dry patches.

I would definitely say it's worth looking out for the gift set if you want to try this lotion, as like I previously stated, you get the perfume and the body lotion for roughly the same price as some places sell the perfume alone. However, if you're looking for a body lotion which will make your skin very soft and supple, this one probably isn't what you want.
