Advantages: Smells wonderful, exfoliates and moisturises, long lasting
Disadvantages: Price - It does look very girlie
In July I managed to overcome the revulsion experienced by the smells that greet any potential shopper at Lush stores and ventured into the Manchester branch to purchase a gift set for my wife after reading most of the hype relating to their products on this and other review sites on the Internet.
Included within the gift set was the Lush "I Should Coco" soap bar and up until last week I saw it as too girlie to actually use. I usually use Radox Shower Gel but in recent time I found that not only did it dry my skin, the fragrance resembled body odour and didn't leave me feeling fresh or indeed clean and in desperation I turned to the Lush soap bar sitting in the bathroom cabinet.
The picture above shows the bar in all its glory and I won't be going into any amazing description of it. Needless to say, for £1.95 for a bar weighing 100g this is not a cheap soap by any stretch of the imagination. Being 13cm by 5cm and 4cm in depth the bar sits comfortably in the palm of my hand. Layered into three shades of pink the topside of the bar is coated in flakes of coconut making it very easy to grip, even when wet. Basically the soap looks very feminine.
The bar itself contains creamed coconut along with Orange and Coriander oil which on opening the packaging smells extremely sweet and I wasn't sure whether I should be washing with it, or indeed taking a sizeable bite from it. The mild coconut aroma is striking and blends fantastically well with the Orange oils. After it is immersed in warm water, the aroma from the bar increases but never becomes overpowering on the senses.
The beauty of this soap is that that it lathers up superbly, with a little going a very long way. The coconut flakes act as a mild abrasive, exfoliating dead skin as you wash meaning that not only did I not need to use half a bar in the shower, but I also didn't need to use a different product on my face after washing. The final results were amazing, my skin felt clean, fresh and above all moisturised. Any traces of body odour after travelling on a packed tube train were removed and the soap left a very subtle but noticeable coconut fragrance that lingered for a few hours.
I now regularly use this in the shower and haven't noticed any adverse effects at all, the only problem apart from the actual price is that when used in the bath the soap does fall to pieces rather quickly. It turns the water pink, there is an oily residue around the bath and floating pieces of coconut seem to take an absolute age to remove when getting dried!
Overall I love this product and will not be returning to the major high street brands such as Radox, Lynx or Imperial Leather. My self-confidence had been knocked for a few days and it returned after using "I Should Coco". I have now used the soap for over a week and there is still half of the bar left making this in my opinion worth every penny. If anything I have been encouraged to try others in the Lush range.
I have been firmly converted and I am no longer a Lush-o-sceptic……….
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Thanks for taking the time to read and rate.
