Advantages: they work, not too painful, easy to use

Disadvantages: slight pain, stickiness

I have been watching TV a lot and like many you have probably seen a lot of Veet adverts. The woman who is always going around the UK to change Wax Virgins into Wax users. I am sick of this advert and now it has branded people like me who are wax virgins with this title. I decided that today was the day I was going to lose my virginity to Veet and so it began.

I am not the bravest girl in the world and get scared when here is a slight warning on a product. I don't want to wax my legs so I decided to go for probably the most difficult place and decided to do my bikini line. I thought it sounded a bit scary and you always hear people tell you never get your bikini line done it hurts or you hear the howls of pain. I am not someone who screams easily so I thought I could handle Veet.

The product out of the Veet range I decided on was the Veet Mini Wax Strips which are suitable for bikini and face which it says on the front of the box but also underarms too.

In a kit what you get is 20 strips, instructions and 4 perfect finish wipes. The Veet strips are for use on short hair which is a good thing. So what I first did is read all of the instructions so that I didn't make any mistakes as any mistakes could be very painful. First thing I did was put talc onto my skin so that it would make the area have less moisture. I then got the wax strips out.

The strips are 2 joined together and you can cut them to size for the area you're doing. I had to rub them between my hands for about a minute to heat up the wax. Once heated the strips easily peel off, place one down and pick up the other. The strip you are going to use should be placed in the area you want hair removed from. You need to then press it down so that it sticks well, count to 10 and then pick up the corner and pull. You only pull once your skin is taught so that you have no accidents.

The pain is not too bad considering the bikini line is meant to be worse. Don't be alarmed if you have blood coming out of the root or if the skin goes red as this is normal since you are pulling hair right out of the root. The strip has blue wax on it and can be used for up to 4 times. After using the strip fully, fold it over and then pat the sticky areas to get rid of the stickiness.

After taking off the hair you then open up a Perfect Finish wipe and this will remove the wax and soothe the skin so that the redness fades away and that it isn't red.

The strips are easy to spot they are in a yellow box, the smallest in the Veet set and they say on the front Face and Bikini Ready to Use Wax Strips.

I would definitely say now that I am no longer a Wax Virgin, I am proud and feel my money is spent on something useful. The wax is not painful and removes the hair easy enough. The wax takes hair away for up to 4 weeks which is good.

The price of the strips is currently £3.32 at Boots on offer. If you get the Boots magazine this month there is an offer if you buy these you get 100 Advantage Points which is the value of a £1 and isn't bad for buying something good.

Excellent tip with the Boots magazine - I've been tempted by the ads to 'lose my wax virginity' too!
