Advantages: great smell, very cheap

Disadvantages: none

I was so convinced by the Imperial Leather Hawaiian Spa shower gel that I would have never considered buying anything else. Unfortunately it was sold out last time I went to Superdrugs so I bought the Imperial Leather Icelandic Spa. The scent is totally different; the Hawaiian Spa is lovely sweet and the Icelandic Spa refreshing and vitalising.

It's hard to decide which one I prefer but I guess that the Icelandic Spa is my favourite in summer, when it's so hot it is just better to have a refreshing fragrance than a rather heavy sweet scent.

Look & Smell

The bottle is light blue with a blue/shiny cap. On the front is the red Imperial Leather logo and in white/blue the images of snowflakes.
Unfortunately it seems that this is a limited edition - arg, I better go to the shop now and buy some more before they are sold out too!

On the back the label promises us to 'revive your skin with this cool, ozonic blend of Icelandic Moss, refreshing Wild Thyme and crisp Sea Minerals inspired by Icelandic Spa Rituals'.

Furthermore, the label informs us that the shower gel is 100% soap free, is dermatologically tested, is mild enough for the whole family and has a skin friendly pH level.
Especially the 100% soap free is a big plus point, my skin is quite difficult and using normal soap normally ends in a disaster.

The shower cream itself is light blue - almost translucent - and creamy, almost a bit runny. It's a lovely texture as I really hate sticky gels that resemble rubber bulbs when squeezed out of the bottle.

The smell is what convinced me the most; the refreshing scented gel smells of citrus fruits and a bit of the thyme that was used. It's unisex so both of you can use it; I'm always so annoyed when I'm running out of shower gel and have to use the wannabe manly shower gel my boyfriend uses.

The scent will stay with you for several hours and if I could buy it as a perfume I'd probably get it straight away.

Using it

The shower gel is quite creamy and easy to use. You don't need much at all (less than a handful is enough) and it creates lovely foam.

I sometimes have the impression that certain shower gels don't leave me with a clean feeling but here everything is fine, you'll leave the bath with this great freshly showered feeling accompanied by this wonderful scent.

My skin feels very soft and smooth after using the gel and there's absolutely no burning or irritation to feel while or after using it. It definitely refreshed me and I had the impression that it also had a light cooling effect - which is great given the current heat wave.

I cannot really say anything about the 'detoxifying' effect but it definitely left me with an energised and hydrated skin.

Price & Value

I bought the shower gel that comes in a 250ml bottle for 98 pence at Superdrugs but you can get them cheaper at Tosco's when they are on offer. Boots is a bit on the expensive site here with 1.49 for the same bottle of shower gel.

1 pound is a good price for a shower gel especially one that smells so good and addictive; I'll definitely buy it again and can highly recommend it. It doesn't always have to be the expensive brand; the Imperial Leather smells incredibly good, you have a huge choice of differently scented shower gels and they really leave you with a soft skin - trust the promise that your skin will be 'huggable & snuggable'.

The Icelandic Spa gets 10 out of 10!
